I voted English due to the number of great English comedies throughout the 80's and 90's. Australian comedy is starting to flourish now though, with the likes of Working Dog productions and other comedians like Ronny Johns, etc.

Australian.

Shaun Michalef, the Comedy Company, Full Frontal, D-Generation (bring back the Late Show), CNNNN/Chaser's war. Brilliant, all of them.

Not a huge fan of british comedy, prefer something bit more subtle. Men in drag has been done to death in the UK!!!

English, Billy Connolly (not technicaly english, hes scottish), Roy Chubby Brown, Ross Noble, Jimmy Jones, 2 ronnies, Tommy Cooper and the endless supply of laughs that were supplied by Monty Python just to name a few.

Oh and Little britain, just saw the live show and it was brilliant, wouldne paid double the price if id had to, more than worth it........... :

I went the poms. With the likes of Faulty Towers, Black Adder, Young Ones, Benny Hill, Monty Python they are a class above the rest.

English - Monty Python, Rowan Atkinson in his various roles and many more. The yanks don't understand the pom's type of comedy as well as we do. Australians are more like the poms in that sense, but we have gone our own way and developed our own style.

English with some of the best stuff I've ever seen and some of the stuff is timeless. But Australian would be second, we have got great stuff but I'm rarely dissapointed with English comedy.

Paul Hogan copied everything Benny Hill did. And Benny Hill got his inspiration from Charlie Chaplin's silent films.

English.........no contest.

Far too many great English comedies to mention.
American ones worth mentioning you can count on one hand.
Australian?...........Chasers War is pretty well done I think, after that I'm starting to struggle to think of any.

i agree on american comedy there isnt too many good ones, but the good ones are great IMO. seinfeld, frasier, south park, curb your enthusiasm, chappelles show & arrested development are some of my favourites.

im not a fan of much british comedy though, but on the whole the standard is heaps better than american. the office and extras are pretty funny, and of course monty python is quite amusing.

australian i agree as well, after the chaser (which is bloody hilarious i reckon), and the late show, i couldnt name anything else that i really like.

Shaun Micallef is an absolute legend of comedy! But I still think English do comedy so much better than anyone else.

Cal Wilson is a New Zealander :P

Most of those guys are pretty funny, but I can't agree with Ahn Do. I don't find him funny at all!
