Talking New Zealand smashes Australia!

One of the greatest games of cricket I have ever seen, NZ smash Aus, backing up from a 10 wicket mauling, they've chased down 337. Taylor with yet another century.

This game broke many records, Australia now lose the number one ODI ranking to SA. Aussie now losing 5 games in a row, as well as 2 ODI series in a row, NZ now the holders of the Chappel-Haddley trophey.

What a game! Rejoice Kiwis!

I figured thats the kind of response we'd get, commentators said that 47 of Australia's 50 overs were bowled by World Cup squad bowlers.. (thats this coming World Cup..) :

And on the subject of chokeing, you must have missed the Commonwealth Bank finals? And I'd hardly call the Chappel-Hadley throphey un-importatnt.

Kiwi's needed 108 runs with 12 overs remaining, they win with 8 balls to spare, great win but Australia seems to struggle bowling out sides. WC just around the corner, things dont look to good at present.

NO Symonds, Ponting, Clarke, Ghilcrest, Lee etc...huh But I guess youve got to take a couple of rare wins against us if you can.

Cool

Yupe, well done New Zealand. 5 loses in a row for Australia with or without the top players.
What happened to all this "cocky" depth talk? Any country should be able to pull a "second string" side together, especially the current world number 2's. 4 players aren't exactly a whole squad? I remember not so long ago people across the ditch were saying they could make several top one day sides..........

I don't think we're chokers, if we are, Australia are just as bad at it, 5 previous games are proof of that compared to our 1 or 2 "chokes". South Africa IMO will take the WC. They weren't "just wins", they were indeed wallopings, in a big way. Home advantage is a big thing, guess some don't like it away from home.

Bring on the rugby....... ;)

We have been at the top of the tree for a very long time. retiring players, players about to retire, players that need to retire and new players with little experience at this level due to never being able to get a look in, all makes for a side that needs rebuilding. I think we under estimate the Kiwi's, the poms, W.Indies etc, they all have some excellent young players that now have some experience behind them, mixed in with some experienced older players. These teams have got the formula right for their world cup squads. The Aussie selectors have got it wrong wrong wrong IMO. Love to be proved wrong, but I think Im right right right.

Woah Woah Woah!!

Someone is getting carried away here!

We are missing:

Ponting - #1 batsman in world cricket
Gilly - One of the finest attacking batsmen in world cricket
Symonds - Gamebreaker
Lee - Great bowler
Clarke - Future captain?

Only 5 out of 11 people!

Enjoy it while it lasts..

Pointing - I agree with.
Gilly? - Dropped in form and no where near his best.
Symonds - So/so.
Lee - See above
Clarke? - Good fielder, give or take bowler and usually has something to add with the bat.

5 out of 11 from how many million? You have lots of talent over there Cricket wise, you'd think filling the gap of 5 people wouldn't be too hard. Australia is Australia, like the All Blacks when we play with a second string, we don't lose and wouldn't blame it on that either because we believe (not just in talk) that we can make 3 or 4 world class teams because of our depth.

Australia will bounce back, they are just too good. This is probably a good thing, perhaps not 5 in a row but to lose like this before the World Cup will be a BIG wake up call. I think we're right up there, enjoy it while it lasts? Sure will, we came close in all our matches, we're no walk over.

Aussie have been playing at home all season, 2 games from there home town and Mums cooking they lose, badly. England & NZ had to do it tough over in Aus and we still won a few, England finally coming right. Just look back at the previous Ashes to see that Australia away from home aren't what they are at on home turf.

Ummmmmmm

Gilly just smashed 100 off bugger all in the Ashes didnt he?

That bloke is never out of form. He will either get out for 0 - 10 or 50+ off not many, its the luck of the draw.

Gilly is out of form in the one day matches. He's failed miserably.

The perfomance by the Australian batsmen in the last one-day match was a good one. I think that even if hayden and Jaques did well they wouldn't have posted a much higher score. Bowling (taking wiickets when they needed to) let them down a bit even though it was a reasonable bowling performance. They needed a bowler to "strike".

There are heaps of +ve's from that last game. The middle order really picked it up. Hodge did well. Hussey did well with the bat and in the field but showed a bit of inexperience as captain. Braddin did ok batting and got experience in the top class which can only help if he needs to stand in for Gilly. Batting-wise this is a step up for Australia. I tend to think they are overplayed though. Some players rested might help.
