Default Geelong hospital.

OK guys i need some info from your melbournians (esp geelongians?!?).

i'll be at geelong hospital working for all of december, (Ryrie Street?). I'd just like to know of some good resturants, cafe's, supermarkets etc. A gym and pool would be good too.

cheers,
ORB>

P.s. would be good to catch/meet up with some of you as well.

Are you staying at Geelong Hospital too? Would help with closest gym etc. Maybe get in touch with the local XR owners club. You can email their president Graham ( grakar@bigpond.net.au ) and see if you can join in with some of their activities perhaps.

There are plenty of good restuarants etc within the CBD. My favourite, if I remember the name correctly is the Sawyers Arms, not far from Kardinia Park. There is a pool and I am pretty sure gym there too. All within walking distant or short drive of hospital. Kardina Cafe on LaTrobe Terrace does a mean pizza too.

I live in Melbourne, because of the wife, but if it were entirely up to me, would be back in my hometown in a flash.

The Scottish Chiefs and The Brit are the best local pubs for a pint or few...

The Boatshed is great on the waterfront is a great place to eat (near yacht club)
You will be very close to Geelong's major shopping centres 5 min walk
gyms will be found everywhere and pools are usually packed on the hot days as is the beach!

Enjoy your stay!

lol, I can't believe people didn't know what a kip was! (no offence).

There's a couple fish and chip shops that are on the waterfront and make awesome food.. Can't remember names sorry, I only go up once a year or so and know them by eyesight.. Don't be afraid to explore though!

Yeah for food anything around the bay is good, but you will pay for it. But you know how that saying goes.

If you want an awesome hamburger, visit Burger Inc on Packington Street.

Dont worry about a pool, 15min drive and your at Torquay!

The Bended Elbow has good food too. And when you are done they have a pretty large selection of beer too .
There is only 2 pool and gym's combined that I know of. One is as you are driving into Geelong where the big waterslide is. The other is Splashdown - Coppards Rd in Whittington.

And barnsy, don't ya mean the Wharf Shed?

Whatever you do, don't eat at Smorgys! It's the biiiiig white joint out on the end of Cunningham Pier on the waterfront.

Will have to go for a good run down the coast on the Great Ocean Rd while you're down.

Nurses quarters!!!! What does 1 have to do to get a spot in there! You'll be too busy hanging out with the hot nurses!

We ordered a pizza from anglesea pizza shop 1 night and it took almost 2 hours to get delivered! Tasted like it got cooked 2 hours earlier too! But i admit they are a good pizza. Just dont get home delivery when you're out in the bush!

you've got to have a go at the satay chicken pizza sit there and pic it up from them just awesome.

or a run to the peir port hotel in port welshpool would go down well too....

isn't it lucky Lexan plastic is an adequate UV filter...and that the HID's aren't high enough energy to produce Xrays. :
