Well after about 6 months of running my BA XT V8 3 valver at calder and heathcote i am pleased to say we have finally broken in to the 12's. I said to DABOSS about 2 months ago reserve a spot in Club 12 for me cause i am coming in.
This car has always made good power and is a pleasure to drive on the street but in a racing situation with the suspension being so low and the driveline not being the best it was decided during the week to make an all out assault on that 12 second pass. I decided early on that i wanted to run a manual 6-speed gearbox (the 5-speeds aren't real good) with our new Textralia hi-perf clutch and raise the suspension up to get some better launches. I also put on some racing wheels and drag slicks took out the passenger seat, rear seat, dropped the exhaust, tow bar off and just drive it like a real drag car. Here's a summary of my 6 runs 1st Run 1.92 60ft 12.95 @ 105.56 (1st 3V into 12's) 2nd Run 1.83 60ft 12.86 @ 107.07 3rd Run 1.87 60ft 12.91 @ 109.41 4th Run 1.83 60ft 12.83 @ 106.76 5th Run 1.81 60ft 12.78 @ 108.67 (New PB) 6th Run 1.97 60ft 13.11 @ 105.78 (6000 RPM Launch) To say i was pleased is an understatement, driving back up the return road thinking that run felt pretty good and then seeing Chris at the back of the control tower with his fist in the air was quite special. Both Chris (Bluepower Racing Developments) and myself have been working together with this development and to get these results is just great for ACE and Bluepower. Getting back to the pits and seeing Leo, ORSMXR, Hot460, MYV8, Stef, Ratter & Belinda, Tripower289, Bobby, Lukey, Spoolman, my wife and kids all come over and shake my hand and laugh and smile was a moment i will remember forever thanks to you all. Thanks to Terry (Tripower289) for your help on friday preparing the car for battle. Watch out for these 3 valvers as we have been playing with a couple of auto ones as well that will be out pretty soon. Cheers Craig Last edited by Craig; 21-05-2006 at 03:14 PM. |

Well done Craig, all your R&D has paid off, the car looked the part and most of all it did the job you were trying to do.
Most guys go straight past the 3 valver when thinking performance, but there is only maybe less than a dozen XR8's that are quicker than yours

Well done Craig, you've been picking away at this thing for a while and look! I recall that in stock trim the 5.4 XT's were good for a low 15 or high 14. Who would have thought that they were capable of a 12, good onya!

What makes me nervous is the driveline (that's why i put the 6-speed box from my XR8 ute in for the weekend) and also the rearend in these sedans with these soft CV joints. The rearend held up very well at heathcote with 1 x 6000 RPM launch so i will see if it can handle some more this friday at calder. : Cheers CC |
