10.0 mps here I dunno what that means, but it seems pretty good. Everything loads quick etc. At work it's like 100 mps the computer can't keep up with the connection. :

Whats the fastest internet service that you can access from home, lets say you had this fast connection. How long would it take you to download a 3mb Mp3???

at optimum speed, you could download a 3mb file in a mater of seconds with ADSL+2 or cable
i've got 512 ADSL, and can download around 40 - 45kbps.

I got the best residential service...Optus Cable.
A 3mb MP3 is about 15-20 seconds depending on the other end.
Several times I have managed to download at 1.5Megabits per second

1500 ADSL.

A good speed is around 160kb a second... take into account that most mp3s you download are peer to peer, so it depends on what the other persons speed/limit is.

Poor thing, that is so sad, I bet all the 56k dial up members are crying their eyes out.:voldar02:

Myself, 1.5mbps ADSL. How much are you paying for ADSL2?

I've got 1500 ADSL myself, can't get cable where I am.

If any of the 56K dial-up users are considering ADSL or for those with a standard ADSL modem, and want up to 4 PCs connected together behind a firewall, etc, I've got a spare Billion 5100 4 port ADSL modem/router I can sell for $80 + postage.

Dam, it takes me about 30-40 mins to download a 3mg file. I think its time to persuade mum and dad to get a faster internet connection.

With Optus cable i normally download at around 1.1-1.4 megabyte per second. (From Optus/Telstra & Ausgamers)
So theoretically it would take less than 3 seconds.

256/64kb plan here. Its funny how you upgrade from dialup which is so slow but then once you get used to the ADSL you want a higher speed lol. Soon my speed will be 0 because I'm moving.

OT If I'm still using the same phone number but moving to a different address, will the ISP charge us the reconnection fee or not? Just don't want to get stooged of about $100.

1500 ADSL on a 20gig plan. I only do light browsing so I don't need the speed or the capacity, but slower connections didn't seem any cheaper.

Anyone considering broadband should check out Whirlpool and their Broadband Choice section: www.whirlpool.net.au

Oh the joys of dial-up! 56k here!!! Somedays it would be quicker for me to go to the library than research on the net (Take into account the library is nearly 1/2 hour away from me aswell!!!!!!!!!)

For a third of the month I'm on 256k, but it doesn't take long to exceed my download limit, and then the brakes are applied for the rest of the month.

Buggered if I'm going to pay more than 30 bucks a month for access to the net! Maybe I get stubborn about the wrong things.... hmmmm....

At the moment, my steam powered machine is connected at 28.8 Kbps, so I can't even vote on the poll!

Like someone else said, I refuse to pay more than $30 a month for the internet.
I'm not able to justify much more on this, it's only a hobby or form of entertainment and I need my $$ to keep a roof over my head.

Maybe if I just bought some more steam??
