SPY PHOTO - FORD NITRO ENGINE | Print | E-mail
Written by CompetitionPlus Friday, 19 October 2007 Here's the first look at Ford's new nitro engine. Ford's Dan Davis and John Medlen posed beside the engine that is expected to be unveiled soon at the SEMA show. Licensing driver Mike Neff put the engine through its initial paces on Thursday during a test session in Las Vegas. (Tim Marshall Photo) Any One Know any more info on this? Yep, ford commisioned this with John Force racing about 3 years ago. They didn't like HEMI engines with Ford bodies.
Ford Engineers have been working with John Force Racing on this and i had a little sneak peak at the cylinder heads in Feb 2005 when i was at Force's headquarters, it's all real nice billet aluminium. You should see there machine shop amazing, i will did out some photo's tomorrow. |

99% of professional drag racing (door slamers, top fuel, etc...) is HEMI's
HEMI's dominate the drag racing game this new motor will be a flop in my opinion

They reckon if it weren't for the extra and larger headstuds, a set of 392 hemi heads would bolt up. Seriously I think if you want to keep up you get a Hemi, but thinking outside the square will yield some results. Just look at Zappia's Doorslammer, just through the extra development he had for a year with his blower, he has that extra "notch in his belt" and in turn can nail a 5, where the others are relying on winning out at the tree.
