Holden has recalled 140 Vic Pol Divisional Vans after offenders have managed to kick their way out of roof hatch in rear fibreglass pod.
Note: They were aware of this problem during development. |

And they called it a "modern state of the art police vehicle" it's a POS.
MDT's can't even be installed in them and they are too long.

This is making me laugh.. when I saw the new vans the first thing I noticed as no cage. After seeing what goes on in the back of those things it was obvious that a plain fibreglass capsule wasn't going to cut it... but obviously the bean counters won that battle.
I'd bet that a cage would put the vehicle over gross vehicle mass... the Holdens just don't have the load capacity required for the job. |

not really related, but i witness 2 guys kick out the back door of a DIV ute at a train station, took them a few kicks but, first, the padlock and what the padlock is locked to popped off, then with another kick BOTH doors flew out and they tried to run off (handcuffed) and were caught by the other patrol car following.
just shows you how pathetic and easy they could be to break out of! |

I have witnessed a Ford Div Van door kicked open. I have heard of an offender who jumped out the window of a moving cage car down the Western Highway (VIC) after kicking it out. I even heard a story today, not sure if true, of an offender who somehow cut/got out the top of a moving brawler van. No vehicle is completey 100% secure but the Comedydore div van during development was know to have the weakness in the roof hatch. The pod is made of fiberglass construction with no inner cage and the roof hatch is held down by four small bolts. Why am I not surprised something Vic Pol purchased is faulty and does not work correctly.................
