Default Burketown Pub goes up in smoke

Those of you who've been fishing up in the gulf may have enjoyed a beer or a fight in the Burketown Pub. Well you'd be hard pressed to get either now ... she's gone.

This pic was taken at 4.30 am this morning .....

Yeah, that reminds me of a funny story.
I moved from Sydney to Mullumbimby in the 70's. There were two pubs ... the "Middle Pub" and the "Bottom Pub". After I'd lived there for some time, I asked a local how come there's a middle and a bottom when there's only two pubs? He looked at me like I'm not to bright and drawls ... "Yeah well there was a "Top Pub" but it burned down" "Must have been recent" I said. "Yeah" he says, "1934 she went up"!

The wheel turns slowly in Mullum.
