Default Dodo: the worst telco in Australia

Just thought I might have a little rant if thats OK and stress how much i would never recommend dealing with them.

I'm in central Qld so not many options when it comes to phone line and internet so I gave them a try. Long story short they never supplied what they said they were going to in the time frame they stated so I canceled the braodband which they said I couldn't do as i had entered a contract. Yet I had a letter from them saying that I had 30 days or something to cancel. When I told them this they basically called me a liar and said they didn't send such letters. I complained enough and threatened to go to consumer affairs and got out of it but had to stay with them for the phone line for a year.

This was 8 months ago and i haven't given them any more money than the line rental as the work phone took care of calls.
Recently the phone line has dropped so we can't even receive calls. I reported this over a week ago and got there usual "tech dept. is looking into it sir and will call you". Turns out they called me at 5 on a Friday afternoon and surprisingly got a message bank. When I asked why they didn't leave a message apparently they are not allowed to.

The whole place seems to be staffed by idiots and no department knows what the other ones do. Whenever you called them you end up repeating your details to them as they forget or can't understand you.

Never ever use these guys. they are useless and have the worst customer service of any company in the country.

I feel better now. Thanks

I think it is a hotly contested title.

If you having grief with a Telco, contact the Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman.

My previous ISP People Telecom were hopeless too.

My speeds were worse than dial-up, and when you tried to call support they just fobbed it off as a being my fault, or that it was my computer.

Once I rang at 4.15pm to try to get some "help", and was in the queue until 6pm at which point I was shoved back to the main menu, and when I finally got through to a real person they said they were after-hours support, and if I wanted help with anythng other than passwords I had to call during business hours. :

They suddenly got very helpful when I made a complaint with the TIO though.

Changed to Internode last year and haven't had any issues at all.

Can I make a suggestion?
Sign up with Telstra on their Homeline Budget plan for $19.95 per month.
Sign up with Internode(www.internode.on.net) for you ADSL.
Sign up with a VoIP provider and use your broadband connection for your phone calls. If you make a lot of STD or International calls, then VoIP will save you a packet load.

PS. Internode offer VoIP as well, Nodephone, but there are cheaper providers out there. Having said that, I still use Nodephone for the convenience of a single bill for Internet and VoIP calls. I haven't paid any money to Telstra apart from the $19.95 per month for line rental for a number of years now.

i work in the isp / telco industry
dod has the most tio complains of any isp...

dodo is staffed from overseas with very little australian presence apart from a sales office and the network operations center,

untill not long ago dodo was primarally a telstra reseller who relied on people going over qotas ect to make their bottom line as they were selling at a partial loss..

If you can put up with the initial stress of setting up, naked dsl ftw.
