Default New drag racing facility at Werribee...what have you heard??
So far i know its all looking very good for approval through council and the first even is penciled in for august 2009....The bloke whos in charge of making it all happen is no strager to building great drag strips, hes done a few overseas and the one in Perth....

Will be awsome to see some world class racing like a Calder of old!!!

Thoughts?? Sorry if this is a repost, i tried to find info on it and there is only one vage thread

There's that many rumours about possible locations it's crazy. Werribee WAS one of the sites mentioned but it was literally right next door to the famous farm so it was declined.

We will know more very soon.

Different. There are two proposals up atm for complexes around Avalon/Little River.

The drag strip is on the Melbourne side near Little River.

The other complex is a circuit and is around the Lara/Avalon area, which already has the speedway and the dirt racing track.

I think they should build it at the site of the new trotting track in Melton.

It would probably help with the hoon problem there and be more successful than a trotting track.

Rumours have been going around for years, and I have seen emails ANDRA have been trying to lobby the State Government for money so they can build a track at Avalon.
Problem is it don't look good using public money to build a new drag racing track when we already have 2 tracks in Vic.
If something does happen it wont start until 2012 but don't hold your breath, the games that Calder Park plays has a lot to do with the politics of this, every time there is word of another track Calder dangles a carrot then pulls it away...

I heard that Avalon Airport/Lindsay Fox have bought out the land where the dirt track is to expand the airport for the new international terminal, which is supposed to be happening over the next few years. Heard that from a member of the dirt track racing club.

isn't Avalon airport on the bay side of the princess hwy and avalon speedway/dirt track on the other side

being the case how and why would they want it as a international terminal it would cost a crap load to put either a fly over bridge or run a bus service to the terminal that would be at least 2-3 klm trip each way

yeh forgot about the off road club on the bay side it has been a long time since i have seen dust coming up from there

as for avalon speedway it as far as i know wont be going anywhere
