Talking TDCi Idle speed

I have noticed my idle is just under the 1000rpm and that the car will drive with my foot off the accelerator, it can even do it in 4 or 5 gear. It will accelerate to just over 1000rpm on inclines. Only if the hill is too steep will it require changing down to a suitable gear.

It is disconcerting when plodding around a roundabout and the vehicle powers around.

Its only noticable when I am driving very relaxed and not concerned about the torque band.

Any one else noticed this or is my idle speed too high.

I just took the kid to school and sussed my idle speed, and indeed it sat at around 950RPM, same as your vehicle.

I don't have that problem(granted i don't have any roundabouts here), but to get around the issue you have, all i'd do is, is stick my foot on the clutch. Will stop your feeling of being dragged around, and control your speed.

Well being a high torque engine, it will take of without any acceleration unlike a petrol engine.

Also bear in mine that the tacho has 250rpm increments, I'm pretty sure mine idles around 800rpm when it's warm. What else can I say, this engine has balls
