That poll is no where near comnprehensive enough, uve only included ultra-pop people/bands! In my own personal opinion the best Australian band is Karnivool! Not only cos that's my style of music but because they're original (un like Wolfmother etc.)!
The only people that can critique music are those with an open mind!!!!

Back to the poll... umm I wish I could choose a few as the Oil's, Crowded House, Powderfinger, AC/DC are all awesome bands and Jet will be a great aussie band if they continue the way they are going!
sweet as dude, any music is good music,ac/dc would have been a close second py:

hard for me to go past AC/DC, the Angels and the Tatts............for all those who mentioned no newer bands on the list and for those 'older' members partial to acca dacca, look out for a new local band called Airbourne, sensational no frills ozrock.

Living End are my favourite Aussie band. That doesn't make them the best though.

The good songs are great, their other songs suck. They don't yet have the balance that my fave band, The Offspring have. Although I will admit, Offspring have good albums and bad albums, but it's simple. 89-97 is good, 98 onwards is poo splatted on the toilet bowl.

But as was said, music is not about music anymore. It's about image, hair and clothing. That's why I don't like modern stuff much.

I'm into the granny music on Magic 1278. At least some people there wrote their lyrics and music, and performed it.

Too many people in the music industry (especially stupid tarts like Holly Vallance, Steph McIntosh, Nikki Webster etc.) simply pay people to do the hard work for them, and they reap the benefits with saying, "it's THEIR album." No it isn't. It says nothing about their artistic ability. They may have good voices (cough cough) but the fact is, it's their image. "I used to be on Neighbours, aren't I special?"

Crap.

SKYHOOKS are the greatest.....

Smut is my favorite song, if you have never heard it do so. not many groups would be game enough to sing those lyrics now let alone in the 70s.

Voted Cold Chisel; Bow River is one of my all time faves.

The Living End should have been an option though, would have made my choice harder.
