Paul was never the same after crowded house split.
Depression is a silent hell for some, if only someone could have helped him...

Paul Hester had fought depression all of his life, when he came to speak to our Psychology class at Uni he explained some of the meanings of the songs like Dirty Creatures and Six Months In A Leaky Boat. Read the lyrics and it will make sense.

I do believe there is a teaching video of him talking about it also.

A sad loss for the music industry, when he wasn't depressed he was a really funny guy. I guess the Dirty Creature finally got him.

R.I.P. Paul, you'll be sadly missed. :(

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re travelling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win

Now I’m towing my car, there’s a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there’s no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the t.v. page

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win

Now I’m walking again to the beat of a drum
And I’m counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don’t ever let them win

A sad day that no one saw coming, he hid it so well.
A pity his only release from hell was his own destruction.
Something for us all to learn,no matter how bad the scene is..talk to someone it will help.
And it just might save your life...I know I went through 15 yrs of hell....so close to being Paul.

RIP Paul forever the clown now at peace

It's sad when the only resort appears to be the last resort. Hopefully the profile of this may sober those up who are considering the same to seek help. Heard Paul Hester on radio quite a few times as he featured often on Martin Molloy many years ago. Seemed like a top, happy go lucky bloke.

Sobering words indeed, John.
