I just rang up for a quote on insurance from Shannons as I realised that I never called RACV to let them know of my mods and that they wouldn't really play ball anyway, bad me! Shannons were extremely helpful and their range of payment options is far better than anyone else offers. But the best thing is that they have agreed to insure my XR for 25k with all mods listed for only $880 a year or in my case $440 every 6 months. They were a bit reluctant at first since I don't have a garage but the fact that I live on the outskirts of town went my way. Probably a pointless thread but since Shannons are a site sponsor and I'm happy with what they have offered me I thought I'd make it anyway.

I switched to Shannons a little while back. I found them to be fair on price and especially fair on the agreed value. And the option of monthly payments straight up was a big help to me.
Wasn't a problem that I don't have a garage and they're ok with where the car is parked. I'm happy with them.

shannons insured me under 25 no problems was a bit steep with the loading due to age but imported car with turbo = no other insurer with a decent policy will touch you with a barge pole

He he I just realised that I misspelled insurance in the thread title. Shannons also wouldn't touch me when I was under 25 on neither the XR or my old EL.

When I got my XR6T I was 20 and Shannons were the only ones that would insure me. Now im 23 with the XR6T and the SS both covered by Shannons Insurance. Both are kept in a locked up garage. Also, they are good with mods. When I called up to tell them that I’ve upgraded the brakes on the SS, the guy says straight away, “So that’s a 330mm upgrade?” And it was. I hadn’t even told him. So they know their stuff. 2 thumbs up for Shannons from me

I have had excellent dealings with Shannons they even put me on 60% no claim bonus straight away and when I moved to a different suburb the bloke told me it was going to increase my premium, I kindly told him that there were " More nefarious characters in my old suburb"
So he kept my premium the same. Nice bloke.

Shannons wouldn't touch me with a 10ft pole. Said 'WRX' and '19' in the same sentence and they couldn't get off the phone quick enough :
Clean history and I own the car outright too! |

My brother bought a fully resto's XB coupe from them over the net. The add said it had an FMX, when it got here to Perth we found it had a C4 thats needs a bit of work.
He had a whinge and after a while they coughed up $1200. At least they're fair.

I was with RACV for years, no claims, crap service, waiting on phone for hours, and mods not covered. A gust of wind brought the attention of Shannons Insurance to me. What can I say. I now have my car, my wife's car (she is under 25) and my house and contents covered by them. Awesome prices, top service. Best of all, all my mods covered!!

I tried to get insurance for my xd from shannons and found them not helpful at all, i lost my license for drink driving when i was 18 which was 8 years ago and because of that and the mods i had done to my vehicle they wouldnt insure my vehicle and had said even if they did and for example i had an accident that if they were to come out and see it had illegal modifactions, which could be having tyres that were over the 2 sizes difference from front to rear that that would void the insurance and not a cent would be paid out.
Just cars were just as helpful stating they could only insure my xd for its market value which was $3000 even though i had 30+ k in reciepts on it at the time.

I'm in my 40's and have had a number of cars insured with Shannon's.
Currently my situation is - Xc ute, restoration insurance - $7000 agreed and being upgraded all the time 1990 Capri and Laser, full comprehensive with 3 daughters driving. 24 yo - licence 4 years 23 yo - licence 1 month 18 yo - licence 6 months All at prices that NO OTHER company could even come close to!!! They will insure my youngest with her own car when she turns 19 full comprehensive and mods ( she's like her dad!) Will be transferring both my building and contents, and investment property insurance later on this year when they're up for renewall. I cannot speak highly enough about this company!!! and they do more than just cars! |

another happy customer here, they saved me money on my insurance, and the cover is better, and includes an agreed value!
and now i get a discount on that with their new association with CAMS too someone mentioned the under 25 thing, ive had insurance with them since I was 23, they wiped that under 25 thing a few years back I think and changed it so that under 25s can be covered as well, as long as they meet the conditions

5 cars with them ATM......
I have laid up on one (so at least if house burns down/roof falls in it's covered whilst in a state of disarray and in 1000 bits) 2 x limited use - under 10,000kms a year and 2 on normal policies - Ohh, and house and contents too..... they have $10,000 on motorsport memorabilia too (guys go home and count those models/bonnets etc and do the math) and a $2k mobile option (ie things with you like mobile phone, camera jewellery etc) Have been with them since I was 18, and can't complain. have had to claim once and there was no problems whatsoever.....

Shannons policy was roughly double the price of NRMA on my XR6T but about the same, could of even been a tad cheaper on a Typhoon. There has been some recent discussion in FPV & XR Owners Club of ACT forum
