Hey people, does anyone know any thing i can do before i call a repairman to stop my aircon from dripping and icing up? I live in darwin so trying to sleep at night when its 30 outside sucks.
It doesnt do it all the time, only every now and then, but once it starts its a bastard to stop. thanks people

check to see if the drain is blocked, or it may be excessivly humid inside the house causing condensation on the indoor unit that gets blown off by the fan. some aircons have a dehumidifier cycle you could try that.

Three posibilities come to mind:
Dirty filters. Have you washed the return air filters lately? Constant running. If the unit is too small and runs constantly, they can ice up. Short of refrigerant. If the unit is short of refrigerant(gas) they will start to ice where the refrigerant enters the evaporator and then the ice just builds up over time, due to it running more than it should because its short of gas.
