Default World Cup.. Woolmer murdered

How insane is THIS??

Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer, found dead a day after Pakistan’s shock defeat at the hands of Ireland, was murdered, police have confirmed. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board has been claiming that the autopsy conducted on Woolmer was inconclusive, sources, according to Times Now, have confirmed that investigators have indeed said the coach was murdered.

In fact, the Jamaican Police is said to be already ascertaining the whereabouts of some of the Pakistan players at the time the murder could have taken place. Sources confirmed to Times Now that further questioning of Pakistan players is on the cards as well.

The confirmation comes soon after allegations by former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz that Woolmer was murdered by the betting syndicate. The outspoken Nawaz has said that almost everybody in control of the game is involved in betting and Woolmer was perhaps about to reveal all in a book.

This is just crazy if true. Where is this all going ?

I really hope that ALL is revealed in an investigation and that justice takes place.

The whole question about match fixing and betting has been around cricket for a while now (especially on the sub continent).

The Pakistan defeat smacks of match fixing to me too.

It sounds like Bob knew what was going on.

Good point.

That is just ridiculous isn't it...I mean anyone to die over a game is just wrong.

It had to be a murder, its just too much of a coincidence. They are certainly another breed over there, they were protesting and burning stuff; just nuts.

Pakistan cricket has been in trouble for a while now... I had money from the beginning that they wouldn't make the super 8's.
Inzi has been described by many as a dictator. They've had drug scandles, ball tampering, and a lot of tension withing the team in the last 12 months or so..

The ICC needs to get on this situation quick. For too long they have been controlled by the Asian countries and have allowed the fanatical support continue uncontrolled.

You got a link for that assertion?

He may well have been murdered but I can't find confirmation anywhere (other than here).

Thanks...

Neither would I but having it confirmed in Fordforums doesn't really count for much, lol.

Oh, ok thanks for that.

Can you clarify the bit that actually *confirms* he was murdered?

I'm not trying to be difficult but I just can't see it. I see the claims/suspicions but I can't see a confirmation.

Backing Pakistan against ireland at dismally low odds is a great way to launder money.

Ronwest is correct. The death is either being reported as suspicous, or that the jamacian authorities are threating it as a murder investigation, but that the death hasnt not been CONFIRMED as muder.

That said, deeply shocked. Woolmer seemed to be a great fellow who loved his cricket. I just think he got involved with the wrong crowd, that is, the pakistan cricket team.

On the news this morning they were saying the police are now treating it as a murder investigaton. Marks have been found on his neck and it was revealed he was to release a tell all book on a Pakistani betting scandal. This seems way to much of a coincidence after pakistan got knocked out by Ireland - seems so probable that the match was fixed and he was going to reveal this.

Well I only asked for a confirmation and you have supplied.

From the reading of it, it may be that they are confirming that another newspaper confirmed it.

It would probably be wise to bear in mind that an Indian newspaper will take every opportunity to stick it up anything Pakistani, but I digress.

You have delivered, well done!

I was listening to the radio this arvo & they had a bloke on that suggested that people involved in under world betting match fixing etc like to keep a low profile & this kind of stuff is not there style.

Police confirm Woolmer was murdered
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...3/s1879497.htm

Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered in his hotel room, Jamaican police confirmed this morning.

Jamaican police deputy commissioner Mark Shields said death was "due to asphyxiation by manual strangulation".

Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious in his Kingston hotel room early on Monday morning (Australian time), less than 24 hours after Pakistan's shock World Cup defeat by Ireland which knocked them out of the tournament.

He was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards.

Presumably to rule their fingerprints out as it would be quite possible that they would have spent some time in his room and touched things in it. I wouldn't be as quick to start pointing a finger at one of the players just yet (if that's what you were implying).
