Default EA, What MOD to do next??

How u doin guys...

Have had my EA for about 3yrs now, and have spent around $5K on mods so far..dont know if i wanna spend anymore..but every now and then think about putting abit more $$ into it for more power...lol...

so far...
Blew the original 3.9, so had EB II 4.0L put in, Pacemaker Extractors, HighFlow Cat, 2.5 Inch Straight Through Exhaust System, Wade Cam i think 112?, XH Air Intake, Clear Indicators, Ghia Garnish, "16 EL XR8 Ticky's, Sports Steering Wheel, Sound System, Clarion Head Unit, 2x 12 inch Kicker Subs, Dumped 2.5 inch with Kings Super LowS, advanced timing, EL 3.45 LSD...

Is still sadly an auto...might look into getting manual in near future depending on $$ and how long this one lasts..hehe.. have some pics of fukt diff from doin fishies...which made me hurry up n get the diff upgrade...anyways..any tips/advice/experience on next power mod tht would best suit my setup..let me know, much appreciated!!...

get a chip and a dyno tune to get the potential from your current setup.

something like $600

depends on how bad you are out of tune to start with, but possibly another 10+ rwkw is not out of the question.

at a guess i would say about 120 at the wheels, this also depends on the dyno to a degree and the weather.

Havent bothered with a project thread, to many threads with bits all over the place, and to lazy to find the info and write it up .......

Basically very little original EA bits left, and alot less to be left very soon

ah yeh, $1500 isnt too bad. Been doing abit of research for turbo's...but then again tht would set me back like $2500 - $3000 or so eh?....but niiice power gain...would prob have to change the 2.5 inch system to 3inch for maximum power gain though or someshit....not to mention compputer, wiring looms etc eh? .. :(

pending the size of the turbo etc, etc yeah about $2500-$3000 at least, 2.5 inch would be fine, you would definately need a chip or something at that point.

PS. You paint code isnt K8 (pearl green) is it, looks more the flat gold colour in the pics anyway.

Hey blokes just thought i'd jump in on the conversation. Turbo is the go champ, i chucked one on mine and without tuning or aftermarket ecu/chip it's making over 200rwkw's. Thats running good pump fuel with everything totally original and stock, including fuel system. Low thirteens, high twelves easy in street trim. $3,000 it can be done.

ey man,

hmm yeh was a slight difference..major difference was whn changed the accel cable coz it was fukt..haha...let me red line the beast without keeping it in gear manually..so i guess there was a difference, but nothing major major i would say...kind of had to upgrade to 4.0L anyway coz the oil pump blew + other bits n pieces..

I paid $500 plus about another $50 for a manual ECU, and we swapped it over at home. I bought it all off a person on the forums. $500 is fairly cheap, and my T5 is in awesome condition (pity my pedalbox isn't though)

I organised a mod day, and about a dozen e-series members came over. It took us about a day. It can be a lot quicker though if you use a Mal Wood clutch pin. I took out the pedal box which is a dash out job. Ironically we put the auto pedal box back in in the end (that was a waste of time) and used a homemade clutch pin. A problem I have found is that the pedal box is fairly weak and the side of it has bent a bit. Try to make up a metal plate to reinforce the side of the pedal box where the clutch pedal attaches, and it should be OK. I'd be able to help, but I'd recommend a number of people work on it, particularily when it comes time to lift out the auto. It isn't light! Since there were a dozen of us, I didn't do a huge amount of the conversion. efgiar did most of the work!
