Have you thought about tertiary education? I got my job through word of mouth at TAFE. Many buisnesses go to TAFEs to look for potential employees.

Have you ever thought of perhaps approaching large businesses in the area of work you wish to embark on and enquiring about doing some "unpaid work experience".
And before you dismiss the idea......it gives you the opportunity to "get ya foot in the door, put ya head down and put ya rear end up" and show the employer that your keen, eager and willing to learn and work hard.......not to mention gains you yourself some invaluable actual on the job experience. If you prove yourself the "unpaid" part wont last too long......employers are always on the lookout for honest hard working young people but are sometimes a little hesitant to make the commitment to actually employing them "sight unseen" so to speak. |

a lot of places these days don't want to, or can't allow people to work for free, as you are not covered under workplace health and saftey or insurance, they may consider you a liability if you are not on the books. Not to mention if the work requires a lot of instruction or supervision by other paid staff, then it can actually be conterproductive for them to have you.
My brother is an aircraft tech and his boss allowed an appretice who had just lost his job to work for free to get his experience up to get qualified. Because he wasn't on the books his time couldn't be charged to the customer and my brother had to spend several hours during the week helping him out so his chargable hours went down also, net result of costing the boss money. This would not be the case in all situations, but its important to consider as if a potential employer allows you to work for free, he is doing you a favour, not the other way around as it may seem to you after working your **** off for a few days for free. That being said, give it a go, just don't take it as a reflection on yourself if no-one is willing to take up your offer. |

Get into construction labouring. Its a bit of hard work, but the money is ususlly 20-25 an hour plus. Its good for earning quick money. I use construction labouring as a means to pay bills when Im between jobs. Best thing to do is just go to construction sites, ask to see a supervisor or get a phone nuber, and ask them if they need a labourer. Most of them are always in need of them, and are only too happy to put you on.

If you have interests in something productive, try and get a few dollars together and start a business.

What about doing a quick course in Bricklaying and then getting yourself into a Brickies Gang on the building sites, dont think those courses cost stuff all either..........I believe some of those guys are earning big bucks at the moment, the building boom is still ongoing in Brisbane and certainly doesn't look like easing up any time soon.

Get an apprenticeship, while doing that learn something on the side that you actually want to do, and not what your being offered, then go with that.

Monogoloid, Teritary Education doesn't have to be a University Degree. Teritary Education is any education obtained after High School.
Some courses at TAFE would certainly be considered Tertiary Forms of Education, especially Certificate IV's, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas.
