Chris's car is quite decent condition so I think it could be possible. Also it has a BOV and Anti-Lag ;) |

I got $23500 for mine back in June (private sale) - it had 44000km on the clock and about $2500 worth of mods.
Unfortunately, I think the value of the ST170 would have dropped even further in recent times because of the brilliant XR5 turbo coming onto the market at a very reasonable price.

17k trade in isn't too shabby. I'd expect about $20-23k private, I'd only get about $13-15k max for my Zetec nowadays I think.

Giv's yer the shites how they dont reconise the ST170 as the rarest production performance Ford in OZ(depending on how many XR5 get sold), think in 10~20 yrs time it will be a valued very rare collectable!

Good luck with the sale Chris! Remember Lincoln? I realllllllllly liked his ST170, and so wish I could have found one back then! Of the older Hot Hatches, my favourites are the 306 GTi6 and ST170 - something about them... I'd say start in the low to mid $20K, and work from there!

I sold Lincoln his ST170, got him out of a French car and into a Ford! As he and I agreed at the time, Ford were making the cars that Peugeot should have been making at the time, with suspension/handling second to none. Peugeot should be shot for what they've done to the GTi brand.
As for wanting an ST170 over an XR5T... not so sure about that... I mean the LR chassis is stunning (and I do have ST170 suspension and wheels!!!) but over an XR5T? Not a chance.

Well if i am ever offered the right price then its always for sale
As I doubt i will get what I need for it, then it will most likely stay with me until its paid off :( I'd go the ST170 over an XR5T as its more of limited run the XR5T which now really is a production model. I have been tempted to keep it for that 10-20 year time incase it may go up in vaule, but as i seriously doubt it, once its paid off i will just sell it and get something a bit better After nearly 3 years i still have problems with the friggin vents that Ford cannot fix even though they have supposedly replaced them twice now. Cheers Chris

Yea, not sure of the ST170 will ever become a collectors in Australia. Things never really picked up for it. That said, I still love spotting them, which is VERY rare! The colour just looks great with the 17s.
