Is it possible to detach the front nose piece of the EF-EL Fairmont/Ghia without cracking the bonnet paint? Is it a separate module? I have a little project planned for it if it detaches easily.

Uh the front ornament thing yeah that has a silver surround on the EL instead of being colour coded like the EF. Has a black/grey insert with the ford badge in it inside the outer chrome/colour coded area.

Yeh the grill but its surrounding area too... it seems to be one whole piece that you can unbolt to take it from the bonnet.

i haven't done it myself, but apparantly it is detachable.
I'm actually looking for a new one, cos the plastic on it has been smashed a bit from the previous owner hitting a pole. I've been looking around and a new one ranges from $300.00 - $400.00. haven't found a second hand one yet : ( |

Will the centre black part come out in the EF as I would like to pull it out and respray it at the very least (stonechips)?

Yes yes and yes.
You can remove the whole grille, it is painted separately to the bonnet and removes. And yes you can remove the black part from the rest of the grille, just be careful as it is easily broken.
