Theres these things on ebay for 18 dollars, a timing advancement resistor mod chip, claiming up to 20 hp gain. Is it worth getting one, i mean its only 18 bucks, could get ripped off worse aye? do they work?

Why do people believe stuff on ebay!!!! These used to be a fuel lean-out resister (10c worth for $18), now it's magically transformed into a timing advancement resistor!! (10c worth for $18). Caveat Emptor as they say.... Shame your replacement engine will cost more than $18... Why not buy one of these plus some pills for the fuel tank, and some twisted bits of metal for the air intake, and the magnets, and the fuel injector heaters, and the Dry Ice Air intake - and you'll have the whole ebay collection. End rant _2: |

Ohhh jesus! They are a crock of ИИИИ, everyone comes up and posts stuff about them mindlessly without searching. I think that the last person came up asking about them only a few weeks ago.
They are basically meant to trick the Air temp sensor into thinking that colder air is entering the intake. Once the PCM adapts to it, all gains are lost AFAIK. Its crap, I cant beleive they still are tring to sell them. They are popular only to the ingnorant and un mecanically savvy (Your VL-VS Executive drivers with green neons and hubcaps). I doubt Beetus that you will find ANYONE here who has been sucked in by this very well known ebay scam. Search is your friend. |

Well I've got an exhaust fan from my bathroom screwed onto my airbox with a hole cut out. Gives me an extra 600 kw. Only 19.99 from bunnings.

Beetus - unfortunately there are no free rides in this game, no magic tricks... if it looks too good to be true then assume it is. A few other threads on this topic will explain the theory behind why its a bad idea.

I got one of those $20 exhaust fans from bunnings for my kitchen and you can't hear it, the steam doesn't move, and it can barely even hold a peice of paper. I've moved more steam of my kitchen with one fart!
Just shows you get what you pay for.

Well if you stand on your head facing Antartica while doing the hokey pokey and drinking a concoxian of rhino horn, parrot feathers and greem tea while wearing a bondage costume you may also get the same effect. Nothing.

Thanks TJB45, I've ordered my piston return springs and radiator insulator. I think I'll go back and order the lowering kit for that extra bling, and the muffler bearing.
