Default G&D Mods

Well, after the last thread turned into a circus I closed it and have opened this up to inform those who are interested what is happening.

Car is still at G&D, we are doing some revisions to the original plan and I'll have it back late next week.

I'll post up results when I get it back for those that are interested. I WONT be discussing them in detail, what I post it going to speak for itself. I wil try to answer what I know but until I get an ET and MPH to compare it to I'll generally jsut state what it is and how it feels.

It will be good I'm sure but the ET can make its own points when I get it.

For all those that have followed this first stage of mods, I hope you get some good info from it. I know I'll have a lot of fun playing with the car when I get back.

I can't wait to be busted. My mods for next round - no spare tyre, 20l fuel left in tank, no rear seat and my fully engineeered C.A.R. (COLD-AIR-RAMP) Piece of galvanised steel (slide) directing air straight into the snorkel . The T series only have the mesh over the grille so there is little or no obstruction to flow.

You built up all the hype and then close the thread and complain when everyone finds out its just another big build up about another CAI kit and you get the predictable feedback that it doesn't work.

Mate you asked for it lots of us knockers out here on the web.

Show us the timeslips all right!

I am sure cams will be on the way, $$$ must be the only thing holding Casper back. I am really, really dieing to know how the VCT cam goes coupled with the CAI, edit, extractors etc.

Actually the build up was a bit of fun and if you read it clearly you will see that I said it was the first of a number of trips to G&D and that this CAI was only one of a number of mods this trip. To be honest the CAI was a minor mod that was just a tease for what we are doing now.

Yes, one should never underestimate the power of those that have a chip on their shoulder and something to try and prove to can something to the point where its just not worth replying.. then cry foul that you are hiding something. You know what? Screw em. My car and if they even start in this thread then I will simply lock it too, say absolutely nothing about what was done, and they can deal with all the people who wanted to know. My car, I know what is going to be done so it is no skin off my nose.

Good luck with it all Casper, I hope you get the results you're after. Its great to see G&D take on the SOHC six as well!

This can only mean good things for the NA 6 cylinder enthusiast.

Casper - just a thought. If you've done the CAI first, and then you do get a cam later, will the current CAI be suitable for the new cam (IF you get one - big IF)? Just wondering how versatile this CAI is. You already mentioned somewhere that the pipework between the I6 and the V8 is different, so would different pipework (again) be necessary if you do change cams. And if so, is that part of the original cost?

Got another question - would just the G&D pipework be beneficial using the standard airbox - ie would it in itself give any increase. I know Bucky's looking at an intake pipe, so if it gives him a bit of power to go with the **bling** he is after, then so much the better.

Might be worth a new thread JC cause this thread is not even going there... period.

That's a good question. I guess some blokes wouldn't be able to cough up all the dough for the full mod, but perhaps could get some increase from half of the mod!

Well, you need to change the thread title then - it says "G&D Mods", and my enquiry is about G&D mods for an AU - specifically, a pretty boy AU (Bucky's).

Sorry, airbox is a touchy subject as you can imagine. The G&D airbox mod uses factory AU piping from the throttlebody to the airbox, including the tapered intake pipe most of us got rid of a few years ago. There is no "special" piping.
I had the larger intake piping from airbox to the first elbow but it was fouud to be less effective on the dyno than the stock tapered pipe on mine.

No bling to be found there sorry.

G&D would manufacture their own intake to suit your car if asked, I know coz I have asked myself. You can even get them HP coated to reduce the heat, remember they do have a full time fabricator so anything is possible at G&D.

Geeez Casper, who new your mods would get that much interest. :

I know the air box is a touchy subject but Glenn told me that it also gives the V8's with the tickford extrctors a real nice engine note.

That's my whole point, instead of sitting here asking the members q's of stuff we hardly know about, how about giving Glenn or Matt at G&D a call and they'll be to happy to answer all questions.

RspecAU, seen ya at Chelsea Maccas not long ago, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, nice. So when are you getting your airbox done as I'm thinking we get ours done together and maybe compare the difference on the dyno. Mines a stocker mind you. :
