Default slight problems with au

hey, over the last few days my car has been having a problem..
when i put my foot down some times.. the power lags and nothing happens like its bogging down..
then occasionly when i bring the car to a halt.. the car nearlly stalls and starts shuddering..it stalled last night once..
is this just a bad batch f petrol or what else could be going on?

I think you are right. If you overfill the tank it also does that problem.Good news is when you overfill it that the problem will subside after 100 odd kays.

hmm not sure if its this problem but my car was running a bit rough like that when I disconnected the battery and computer needed resetting. Mine felt like that when you're coming up to a stop it nearly stalls. not sure if this is of help.

Cheers
Chris

I had a similar problem, new set of leads and purs like a kitten. I had one faulty lead, engine compensates so was very noticeable. Did a resistance check on the leads, all checked out ok except for no.5 which i could not get a reading on. Might be worth checking them with a muiltimeter.

Check your leads and spark plugs ... if running distributor and single coil ... check the coil out.

Could be water in your fuel ... could be a few things.

I had a similar problem and it was No 6 plug lead. It gets progressivly worse until you get to paint where you cannot use WOT - about half is the best you can do. Change the leads (about $60 for a set) and you should find a world of difference.

Hi JC,

My wagon gets a slight hesitation just off idle at times, more noticably on petrol, sometimes gas. The idle sits on 700rpm when in drive which I think might be 100rpm too low? When I have the A/C on when it cuts in the car almost stalls.

I have reset the computer as described on AUfalcon.com a while ago, no real help. The leads are only 20,000 km old. What tests should I do to try and get to the bottom of it?

Also, how would I get the idle back up to 800rpm. Does it have to be done with the computer or is there a manual way to do it somehow?

GK

P.S JC, I sure wish you'd move from Canberra to Melbourne!

Keep us posted on how the wagon goes on gas. Us gas guys could use the many tips I'm sure you'll be able to share when you're up and running!

Also, the XR6 front end looks a real treat!
