Default Dilemna :( (AKA help me spend some $)

OK, so I went out on the booze tonight.

Ended up at gamble central ("Skycity") with $200 cash.

Please see below, and advise the best places to take my AU in Adelaide on a Sunday arvo, with any luck I'll be awake by then.

Whats the urgency about blowing $2,000 the day after you get it on a Sunday just for the hell of it. Why not just bank it and save it until you've considered what you really want for the car, rather than impulse.

Why don't you take a week off work and head out of Adelaide and have a break. Take the AU and have some fun.

You are kidding right?

Your own words off aufalcon.com:
"Wishlist is as long as my arm, but major things I want are an iPod-compatible stereo, tickford air intake, BA scuff plates, chrome surround for shifter, chrome shifter button and chrome internal door handles."

I'd say you could cover that easily and still do an exhaust system with change.

In your first post Riksta you said you won $200 cash, that pic looks like a very expensive looking $200 :

I'm honestly thinking this at the moment, I might go buy myself something I've wanted for ages but haven't had the dollars to do (500 gig hard drive for my pc) and just be careful with the rest.

My problem is I am a very impulse person when I get money like that. I am that much of an impulse buyer that I would love to go get the stereo for my car today - but I would want it installed on the spot as well.

So I think its hard drive for the pc, and then I think the first thing I will do to my car is get the damage on the front bar replaced (the crack where I hit the cat).

I think you should get...

But really. If your that stumped you want us to tell you what to get, that's the best warning not to get anything yet.

I have a great bit of financial advice.
Buy 2000 x $1 scratchie tickets.
You never know your luck
But really.. Save it & put it towards an awesome mod.
Maybe supercharger / turbo.
Led windscreen washer lights. Led valve caps?

I used to be an impulse buyer its awesome just being able to go and blow a heap of money on something! I have a passion for my AU, and Ive got a fair bit saved up now, but in the 4 years since Ive lost my license, Ive spent over $30,000 on cars, and have a tidy slightly above average XR6 to show for it. I dont know you position in life, but what about saving it as a deposit for a deposit for a house? Also, they say that if you put 2G away when your 18-21ish, and leave it for life, when you retired, that 2G has griown into a tidy $800,000, which is a nice retirement fund. Just food for thought.

i don't know what bank your with but i wanna join! people put thousands away each year and end up with like $400,000 for their retirement IIRC... unless by for life you mean the life of.... something that has a very long life!

Very, very tempting. I'd love to get a decent sound out of my engine.

I was out pricing car stereo stuff today, I think I'll end up spending more on that than I would like, but it will be worth it.

Well, if you put $2k away at 18, got 6% on it until you turned 80 and becer paid an account keeping fee, you'd end up with $74k - half of which would come in the last 10 years. By the time 62 years go by, $74k will buy you a TV.

I read it in the finance section of the herald sun a couple of weeks ago! Its for real! :S I think I read it right. Im no longer sure. I will research it and get back to you. But I still reckon investment is the way to go.

It's true if you can get 10% every year via investment - I read your first post "put away" as putting it in the bank which would yield 6%ish.

As tempting as that is, I think it might be playing with fire now ;)

Last year I won $3500 (late september) so I'm thinking I might leave it another year or so before I venture into that place again!

Agreed.

I even gave my mate $70 cash to hold on to and said "under no circumstances are you to give me this cash back to play with, its for some drinks after and the cab ride".

Then when I had no chips left other than two of the $500 ones, I said "circumstances change, I'll play that $70 now, coz these chips aren't getting used anywhere except the cashier!". Glad he did give it back to me to play with because I ended up with four $500 chips.

But yeah, just go in for a bit of fun and lulz, don't go spending your entire savings account with the whole "the next one is gonna be biiiiig!!!!", because it won't be, and you will walk out very angry with yourself. I was out for a mate's birthday at a pub in town, he decided casino, I went along for the ride, and yeah.
