Default Au IRS rear wheel bearings & hubs

What brands are people going for? Ones on ebay seem dodgy and can vary from $160 a kit to $70 a kit per side. I would go genuine but it seems like you cant get genuine anymore.

Recomendations?

Go for name Japanese or American brand names like KOYO, NTN etc.

Check the condition of the hub too as if it is scored or worn , the preload of the new bearing will be wrong.

I have bought these bearings from this guy 3 years ago and I have travelled 10K since.

Good luck.

Your other alternative is a complete unit at a wrecker, I picked up on that looks brand new for $125 complete.

You can get bare hubs made by kelpro and purchase the Genuine Ford bearings (NTN) as listed previous post

Timken bearings are also available. SET49 is what you're after- same as the IRS Cobra R Mustang, 90's Jaguar XK and front of a 86-95 Taurus

Much cheaper to source from the US than anything here- US$25ea on Rockauto

(Just double check the part number cross over with NTN)

I went with the hub/bearing set that Repco carried. Kelpro I think they were. That was two years of daily driving ago so I suppose that's a tick of approval from me.

I found a pic, but it's in a Repco box so I'm none the wiser.

Brought a $70.00 a side set off Ebay and had my mechanic put it on. He felt they looked like a fairly decent product, all we can do is wait and see now how it pans out. Has been good for the last week, covered nearly 1,000km in that time.

CBC bearings Australian company. Front pair cost me around $230 and they are very good. Do not buy cheap, if they seize your wheel could lock up. Not worth saving a few bucks. Same with tyres. I dont get skimping on quality rubber. Chinese tyres = suicide for inexperienced and unsuspecting drivers.

CBC, that's the one! The Repco branded kit contained CBC components.

Ended up getting the repco branded ones. Everywhere else were either too expensive or not clear on what model it suits. Its a pain of a job to do and wanted to go with something with warranty and named.

Kelpro so offer 2 year warranty if you can get your hands on them

Hi guys, heads up - its one thing purchasing good bearings & hubs, pressing out the old bearings can be a pain lol! Make sure whoever is doing the job has a very big press & is not a bodge artist, be careful. Good luck!

cheer's, Maka
