I think you will find its the first option.

LINK TO PROVE

The dimples grad the bottom of the cup to soften lateral forces.

Hmm, that's odd... My hats were on as per first option, but this caused significant knocking in the rear suspension. When I investigated, the cause was the central thread and nut, along with the hat having significant up down movement, even though the hat was on tight. Also, my hats do not sit snug inside the rubber housings as per the link, but way above like in pics above.

I've flipped the hats and mounted them hard against the rubber mounts (as per second image) and free play is gone. But I'm not sure if this is correct and I'm doing some sort of damage - hence the post.

I'll have to do a bit more digging.... Not sure why my hat doesn't sit in the rubber mounts, or why I've got that much up / down travel when it's mounted right.

Did a bit more reading on this forum, found Sox's epic permanent solution to this problem too! Shame he does not make them any more however. Damn...

On the plus side, some peeps have done exactly what I have to eliminate the unwanted travel - that is, turning the hats upside down.

It's clear though that it's not an ideal solution so it looks like I'm either up for a more permanent fix made by Sox, or a New set of Rear IRS Upper Suspension Mounts.

Anyone got either?

Cheers

Can you even get New IRS shock mounts anymore ?.

I need to have a look at mine one day, yes it is a pity Sox doesn’t do them anymore.
