I doubt it, the cars getting the LSA are also supposed to be getting torque vectoring and if the entire range got it they would be way to expensive.
I think base Maloo, Clubby and Grange will stick with the NA LS3. We will find out soon enough....... |

Following the usual HSV formula .. nice looking series 1, then sticking more plastic bits on with each successive generation. Still, those rims look nice...

Does that sill have any other function other than "a certain aesthetic" and creating drag..?

Had a dealer pretty much confirm they're all getting a 400kw LSA and not to worry that the VF 1 GTS will still have more. This was only a couple of days ago. If I were a GTS owner I'd still be ****ed. More so if I spent 100k on a LSA Maloo last year.

Jesus...lowest entry point is $81k! Maybe they know there are enough punters out there happy to pay for the last series?

Really? The website doesn't mention an LS3 option and seriously who would choose the LS3 over the LSA?

Looks like HSV have dropped the entry level cars and leaving that market to Holden and the Redline. GTS still has 430kw over the 400kw R8 as well as bigger brakes, torque vectoring and magnetic ride control. Looks like HSV have dropped the dicky gauges from out of the centre console as well. Good on them for giving the punters something worthwhile with series 2. GTSR still to come as well.

I'd happily take an LSA tourer.
Shame they didn't do anything about the rear of the GTS/Clubsports, always been the worst feature in my opinion. |

XR8 remains the only supercharged bargain to be had while there is a whole lot of extra value in the HSV's, if the S/C engine is THE desire it's much more of a toss up.....I was half tickled to try a LSA Maloo but the numbers are a bit over the top. Be interesting to do the numbers....the Coyote has a whole heap more tech in the donk and even with Aussie mods has to be a more expensive proposition than the LSA....those premiums on the HSV's are pretty significant.

Base model Clubby and Maloo have disappeared.
They will come back in 2016 with NA LS3 but will be badged R8, pretty confusing when the other models are now called R8 LSA! An LSA Clubsport is going to be around $85K on the road and I know of a couple of people who have purchased new GTS LSA's for around $90K driveaway. I think the final GTS will get the LS9, 476kw & 819nm (as mentioned in the latest Wheels mag) to be revealed at the end of this year or early next year. |

ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA auto - $85,990 (+$9500)
Right there...that would be the pick...Aussie version of the RS4?

Why would a VF 1 Gts owner be ****ed? Thats the way Hsv has always done things. Its called "progress". And its always marching on. No one who buys a top of the range performance car buys it thinking they will always be the top of the tree, performance and spec wise. You would be naive to think the motor in your car wouldnt get handed down to a lesser sibling when the update models roll around. The xr8 now has the same engine as the old Gtps, how is that any different? All I hear about that awesome arrangement is lots of cheers and excitement. As there should be. Cant say Ive seen too many Fpv owners sooking about it, myself included.

I still feel good about my XR8 purchase. I could throw $10K at it and go the works, and have a ton of power for a lot less.
But I am also well aware of what they are getting and what I didn't, but that's good enough for me. Congrats to HSV for really going balls to the wall on the Gen 2, they sure are pricey but they've given the punters options, and what tasty options they are!

Stays at 430kw for now, says so on the GTS tech section.
The pricing is pretty steep and makes the GTS look like a bargain with the extra kit but bare in mind 2yrs ago the GTS was $105k on the road but only a handful of eager punters paid that. Within 2 months there were multiple GTS on the road for $92k. HSV will flood the dealers as they always have and those cars will be sold off cheaper. I think is the LS3 models come back they will just be Clubsports and leave the R8 nameplate for the LSA powered cars. I also think the LS3 models will be few and far between and only be dealer stock and will be driven away for around $60k, essentially the same as now. Seems silly and I reckon the reason for the staggered release will be HSV testing the water to see if owners will stump up the $80k for an R8 leaving Holden with the SSV Redline which dominated sales over the entry level VF Clubbys only now they will both have the LS3.

Yep, that was my reason for buying it. Last of the Falcons, my last chance to buy one new, and a long term car for me. I won't be retiring for 30 years, but I still intend to have this in my garage when I do.

The entry level clubsport is gone because no one bought them. Even the R8 barely sold. When the SSV Redline had virtually all the same gear other than the power, it was a tough ask trying to get people to pay $15k more. My bet is with the upgraded SSV this time, they'll have the same issues with pricing on the R8 and they too will fall. Things will be looking good for buyers in a few months.
As for the bodykit upgrades... plastic pig comes to mind. The Front bumper on the clubsport with plastic bits stuck under the DRLs just look ridiculous, I can only guess that maybe they ran out of ideas and got their kids involved in the design. Engine upgrades are pretty compelling though, anyone hazard a guess whether the full 430kW is just a flash away? |
