Default 2015 Holden Cruze Jan 20....

'"The 2015 Holden Cruze will land in showrooms on January 20 with a new front-end design and a number of extra features, but with an engine line-up that has been cut in half.

Official images and details of the 2015 Cruze come just days after CarAdvice captured spy shots of the updated Australian-made small car testing alongside a new Corsa VXR hot-hatch.

The 2015 Holden Cruze gets upper and lower grilles split by a thick, body-colour beam with a Holden badge that’s smaller than before, mirroring the face of the US-spec Cruze that was released last year.

The lower fascia has also been redesigned, with selected variants getting horizontal LED daytime running lights beneath the headlights and a chrome blade arching beneath the grille and foglights.

Holden has axed the 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 120kW/360Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel engines from the range “as part of a complexity reduction task”, leaving just the naturally aspirated 104kW/175Nm 1.8-litre petrol engine in the Equipe, CD and CDX variants, and the 132kW/230Nm 1.6-litre turbo petrol in the SRi and SRi-V sports models.

The Z-Series and SRi Z-Series variants have also been dropped from the simplified range, while a CDX sedan trim has joined the line-up.

The Cruze Equipe upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels and exterior mirrors with turn signals, while the sporty Cruze SRi gets these along with the LED DRLs and foglights.

The Cruze SRi-V benefits from new 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, suede seat inserts, and remote start, which allows owners to start their car remotely to turn on the climate control to heat or cool the car before getting in.

The Cruze CDX upgrades to satellite navigation with voice command and live traffic updates.

The changes apply initially to the locally produced sedan and hatchback body styles. The Cruze wagon will get a similar update in March.

Prices of the 2015 Holden Cruze Equipe, CD and CDX are unchanged, while the SRi and SRi-V variants increase by $250.

2015 Holden Cruze pricing (before on-road costs):
Hatch/sedan
Equipe 1.8 manual $19,890 (unchanged)
Equipe 1.8 auto $22,090 (unchanged)
CDX 1.8 auto (sedan only) $24,840
SRi 1.6 manual $23,140 (+$250)
SRi 1.6 auto $25,340 (+$250)
SRi-V 1.6 manual $27,140 (+$250)
SRi-V 1.6 auto $29,340 (+$250)

Sportwagon (on sale March)
CD 1.8 auto $24,090 (unchanged)
CDX 1.8 auto $26,840 (unchanged)"

Another messed up frontal design very similiar to the vf hsvs. Lines and shapes just don't lineup or compliment each other. Bit of a mess really.

Preview to the VF mkII?

That's among one of the ugliest cars I think I've ever laid eyes on. No amount of toys could make up for that grille. I'm not sure what gm have been thinking with this, I really do hope this is NOT their global direction. It would be a damn shame for the commy to go out with a nose like that.

So at a time the competition are adding more innovation to their ranges in view to reducing consumption, Holden reduce the basic models to the decade old astra engine only.
Its gonna be a long hard slog to Elizabeth closing down.

I'm not convinced that diesel cars are the way to go for stop start city driving. The cost to keep clean emission's and to maintain them is becoming an issue, especially with the new petrol engine & gearbox technology.

Besides, Cruze diesel engine was a dog.

That is a very average powerplant. Surely they could have squeezed another 15kw and 25Nm of torque out of the n/a engine? My old Subaru from 2001 had those power figures back then and it struggled every time you turned the a/c on. You had to wring the necks off of those engines to get them to move. urrrgh....

Well it is going to be easier to rissole the Cruze than the Commodore. Plus Holden have the Opel-sourced lineup to replace all the rest of their horrible small cars. Also:

Implying that any car maker here actually bothers to look at what the public "wants".

Falcon: too big, out of date, doesn't meet the needs and style of vehicle people want these days, no diesel, very good ecoboost four cylinder came far too late. Sales dropped to bugger all, Ford is all puzzled by this (far too used to relying on "Daddy had a Falcon and his daddy had a Falcon so I'll have to buy one" old-style purchasing trends which don't exist anymore) so drops it from line up.

Commodore? See above...

No they haven't, they have always had global design influence. Its part of brand identity...why are people so ignorant of this fact. Every falcon or commodore was no different, every model had a representation of whatever global design language was used at that time.

Holden had one of the cheapest diesel engines sedan/hatch on the new car market and have decided to drop it..... not the smartest decision they have made in a competitive market.

Why would they axe the 1.4t and keep that abhorrent underpowered slug 1.8?. Surely make the 1.4t the base engine, and offer the 1.6t on higher specs?. Regardless you can't polish a ****!.

The 1.4T was replaced by the 1.6T about 6 months ago; same engine with a size increase for more power.

I would much rather pay $22k for a Cruze than $16k for an i20.

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/12/01/f...to-ban-diesel/
Some countries in Europe are now actually looking at phasing out diesel passenger cars.
It has also been proven that diesel emissions are far more detrimental to health than petrol, with some even labellling diesel 'the asbestos of the 21st century'
I30 is the "ugly Cruze" competitor, and is superior.

I20 competes in the class below.

You have your wires crossed, Holden have ugly cars, Ford have some nice looking ones

In the SRI and SRI-V it was. I think the 1.4 was still available in the lower spec models?. Could be wrong.

Correct.
The 1.4T remained as a low cost option on the base car.
Fleet sales would be the reason for the ancient 1.8 being retained over the 1.4T

That was only sales of existing 1.4 units in stock.
