The company has contracted the Chinese company Zhongding to manufacture their Opposed Piston Opposed Cylinder two stroke Diesel engine which is claimed to produce same power with half the capacity as well as lower cost, emissions and claimed 20-50% improved economy.

two stroke diesels aren't that efficient, and will bellow black soot till the supercharger gives more air flow.
part and parcel, they'll give up trying.

Not this one apparently. ( emissions )
There is also a 'hybrid' 5 blade helicopter coming. Suited to all sorts of applications it seems including multiple power units.

Actually thats quite interesting. ? There has been some talk internationally about LPG and LNG developments in Diesels .
I wonder whether there is any link between 2 Stroke diesels and the use of these fuels (uses a little diesel and more LPG) -Im facinated |

GTL, Algae, biodiesel and a variety of gaseous fuel seem to indicate the piston has a life.
It is reported that Saudis will be a net imported in the foreseeable future.

My betting will be GAS (coal seam resources) LNG coming out of our ears ??for the next 800 years ???
Heres a development Idea for AUSTRALIA TO actually research (orbit have some technology) and make an Engine (dont Ford have an Engine plant looking for work?)leverage of this Mr Abbott and lets make something that can be sold Globally |

Many Detroit 2 stroke diesels where in buses..With the 6/71 supercharger ..
With new type injection it will possibly be a good design ??
