Another big company goes down....

Is this the same company that had $30mil in the bank in one of it's business arms that went missing just prior to going insolvent???

How this happens, sooo many times is becoming a joke..... one day there will be a lynch mob out to get the people involved if the law doesn't grow a set and be more proactive with these situations...

Feel sorry for the workers that are out of a job....

My fiance's Dad was a Watters employee, and has been lucky enough to receive a termination package, in the hope that if they are all terminated from their Watters contracts, they can be bought up by another company.

Certainly tough times to be falling out of a job, and makes me feel lucky to have the security I have in my own job.

Yes, alot of our building supervisors used Hastie Group as preferred vendor for various things... not good to see.

it happens because of the politicians elected.

they are beholden to business, not the people.

frankly speaking, no pollie or party should be allowed to get any donations from any company or businesses at all, and all private donations, from 0.25c and up should be publicly listed, and no pollie should be allowed to work with any company for 5 years after they are booted out.

it's only a matter of time before some poor bugger does something nasty......

btw, QANTAS has lost 91% of its profit forecast. didnt he just get a pay rise also?

Think our guys have been told to direct orders to other suppliers. Still, it sucks that this type of thing is happening.

Hmmm, Spectrum Fire's chargeparks (Wilson Parking method of payment) were not being accepted at Wilson Parking sites a few weeks back, but then they were okay again. Guess that was a sign.

I have a mate who lost his job with Watters, is away on a course for Army reserve and found out through a sms his missus sent. Luckily my place is employing about 100+ new sparkies over the next few months, so he's in for a shot there. I just need to work out the best person to send the bottle of wine to!

This is unfortunate and as most know the construction industry is in a shocking situation, Kell & Rigby, St Hilliers and now Reed Constructions.

As a worker in the construction industry I have never seen conditions this bad...

Just remember that if you have been terminated and are owed entitlements and pay, you are protected and can claim under Geers, link below...

dont be fooled by the deewr process, have had dealings with them twice and if theres a loop hole theyll find it,i received loss of wages, annual leave and pay in lieu but no redundancy,i have worked for the company for some time and have a fair amount to lose,i will continue to battle but feel as though i am banging my head up against the wall sadly.

Any more news, boys?

I work in the commercial refrigeration industry for a company who benefitted majorly from Frigrite going under... I'll let you figure out who that is...

Probably 3/4 of our Service techs are ex-frigrite, they got nothing... Turned up to their stores one day, got a TXT telling them to come into their office, then pretty much had to hand there keys over on the spot...

Bloody disgusting what these companies get away with! Employees should be the first debtors paid out, not the last!
