Hi guys, couldnt see any other posts on this.
Just thought I would let Adelaidians know that on Saturday November 26th Adelaide International Raceway will be holding a 1/8th mile drag racing event. Hope to see you all there! It has been a very long time so come and show your support and maybe well get the full quarter back!

I'll be there to support the event but won't race. I hope the place is a sell out.

They did list entrance prices in the article in last Sunday's Sunday mail.
Adults $30.00 Children were I think $20.00 And under 12s free entry (again off memory). Maybe someone can confirm who still has the paper. True rev heads in Adelaide who have had to travel interstate to see a damn top alcohol or top fuel machine run for the last 10 years wont have any issue with these prices. Thats how much pit entry was 10 years ago anyway!!! And yeah, not too sure about the rest of the quality of cars, as long as there are a few top alcohol or doorslammers there should be good (see link below). Just hope they dont still have only one tractor to clean up oil spills!! They are trying to have ANDRA sanctioned events late next year and without a strong turnout they may find it harder. Racing starts 12:00... And according to Andra, 8 top doorslammers!! http://www.andra.com.au/competitor/e.../view/936.html

I'll pay the $30. That's still cheaper than driving interstate to see a street meet. Looking forward to it.

Yeah I have had to use the G Tech for ages now, they are meant to be reasonably accurate.
A whole generation of kids will have no idea on what to expect the first time they see a doorslammer line up at the lights!! Will be fun just to watch! LOL!

Heads up , NOrmally with 1/8th mile racing , anyone caught deliberately exceeding the 1/8th mile finish line by a large margin ( purposely ) gets a warning then removed from racing . Its how most Meetings are run around Aus, regardless of potential runway leftover .
SO i wouldnt push it guys , as tempting as it may seem It could just ruin it for everyone in the long run . There is talk of AIR returning to full 1/4 mile in the future , with upgrading to surfaces and braking areas for saftey reasons . Thats wasome to see SA getting something to race on again after 10 + yrs .

Now that brings back fond memories. I remember standing in the tunnel when Jim Read was driving the Chesterfield T/F, ahh the noise and vibration then running up the stairs to tell Dad all about it. Well worth the trip. |

Apparently later on this month. There are also strong rumours, that it will be a full 1/4 mile this time.
