Default United 100 Octane Premium

I recently had my car tuned to run on BP Ultimate which I believed was the highest Octane fuel avaliable from a petrol station. I just found out that United Petroleum offer 100 RON premium and was just wondering if anyone here has tried it and could give me any feedback on it?

Would that mean mobil offer 100 RON too? Does anyone know of any other servos that offer 100+ RON?

OP has his car tuned so you are not really quallified to respond tbh.

Horsepower Factory did a test with this OP and 98/95 octane and the 100 was able to take more timing obviouslly. Its in their section in one of their short movies.

Yes it may use more but you gain torque/horsepower,small trade off imo.

The United 100 Octane is a Ethanol Blend.

instead of the 91 + Ethanol, i think its 95 + Ethanol.

This is my understanding.
Also I believed they were winding it down too.

Who would put United fuel in their performance car anyway?

Its not really designed for the performance motorist in mind - like the old SHELL Racing 100 was :

This stuff is more geared toward make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you're doing your bit for the environment:

Excerpt below from United

" Premium100 can make a real difference to the Australian environment. Premium100 contains 3.55% oxygen resulting in a cleaner burning fuel, giving consumers the choice to do their bit to reduce the amount of harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Premium100 very significantly lowers smog causing emissions including carbon"

i moved from bp 98 to united 100 and got 14rwkw out of it. But then both my servos got 'water damaged' due to those flood days we had last year, now I have no pumps. So i just went full straight e85 only now.

Patterson Lakes and Mulgrave (prinny hwy) united do NOT have 100 octane anymore. So hard to even come buy unless your in Hoppers (Vic)

Shell ran a 100RON fuel for a while. Optimax Extreme 100 was a blend of 98 plus 5% ethanol from memory.

I used to run the hundred octane in the AU every now and then. Wouldn't go out of my way to put it in, but if I needed a tank of fuel and was passing a United which had it, I'd use it.

I don't think I ever really noticed much difference over the 98 octane I use on a day to day basis, and every time I used it I got a bit paranoid of whether the ethanol was gonna kill crucial components of my car. To this day, I have not used it in the Focus.

My Understanding of the e85 blends was that United were much better than caltex, as they consistantly had a high percentage of ethanol (say 80-85%) whilst caltex ranged from 20-70 or something along those lines.

I dont think united is that bad?

Where do these companies get there fuel from?

My understanding (here in NSW) basically all fuels would come out of the shell refineries in Sydney. Is there a Caltex Ref. in NSW.

How does it work, Does United say, we want a 95+ 10% Alcohol pls, they del and United say it's 100?
Does anyone no of someone thats tested all the fuels to dertermine which one is better? ie/ Shell/Caltex claim to have cleaning properties from ther fuels. Do they suddenly take this out when giving the fuel to United?

I filled up at a United servo and ended up with 1/2 a tank full of water. After replacing the fuel line, and rebuilding the carb, the car ran fine.

Then about 3 months later, I thought stuff it. I'll try the place again. (Thinking I got unlucky) Another lot of fuel line, rebuilt carb again, I never went back near the place.

IMA, 2 different outlets and when I complained, the response was "No one else has had a problem and we've sold X amount of fuel".

Typical
