A couple of times recently I have seen Blue P plates on cars and was wondering what they were for. A quick Google search says they are for drivers in WA who aren't allowed to drive between midnight and 5am but I have seen these cars in NSW with NSW regos so are these people from WA driving in NSW or otherwise? Nothing on the NSW RTA website about them. Anyone know?

the P plate system in WA has two stages:
Red P-plates for the first 6 months (night time restrictions) and Green P-Plates for the remaining 18 months with no night restrictions. so yeah, the blue one must be faded or something. :P

I followed a set of blue "P's" this morning for the first time. Did my head in. I lifted my sunnys a few times to see if the lens colour was causing it. I wondered wtf have the gestapo come up with now.
Glad it was only sun fade, not brain fade from the authorities. Sorry for the thread mine. Cheers!

Off topic....
I don't know if it's just me, but this is showing 16500 views for a fairly mediocre topic with only 7 replies. Seems huge!

yeah, because having a plastic sign on the back of your car makes you a safer driver...
what purpose do they serve other than to alert police to give the driver a hard time? (no i'm not a p-plater)
