there a program called sniper on somthing
Anyway you tell it what you maximum amount and it bids for you but it can do it so much faster than we can so it might be the way to go for somthing like that.

I use Hammersnipe. Set my max bid and let it do the bidding for me. If I lose out, well it went for more than I wanted to pay.

I usually put my max bid in with under 10secs to go. If i don't win it, i wasn't prepared to pay that much for it.

Just type in your bid with 20 seconds to go. then when you get to the confirm bid page wait a few more seconds and then confirm bid.
It's a good rush you get when you win something like that. Depending on how fast your internet is you can sometimes have just enough time to bid again if someone is beating you in the final seconds.

I love Ebay!!

The max bid is the way to go (though I'm not 100% sure if vehicles work differently than other items). If you enter in the maximum amount you're prepared to pay, it'll only outbid the current highest bid.

e.g Current bid is $1000 but they've set their max bid to $1500. You set your max bid to $2000, eBay will increment until it beats $1500 and will likely set the price at $1510 (or something similar).

I'll always work out how much I'm prepared to pay for an item, enter that price in and forget about it until I'm emailed whether I won or lost.

It's not Ebays fault, sorry, it's yours for not bidding high enough. :
You will have to keep more of an eye on what these things are going for. Also you need to work on your bidding technique but not quite as much as your spelling.

You may only be getting out bid by $10, BUT the other's guy's MAX bid could be $10,000 more than you! obviously your always running 2nd in the auction, the winner only has to out bid you by the minumum bid.....

Understand? I know its annoying coz it feels like you got outbid by $10, but its more like $1000's if you bid $10 more you still wouldn't win......

you say they beat you by $10 and you bid $200 above whats there what you need to do is bid the maximum you want to pay you will only pay just above the next highest bid

Exactly what I do. 90% of my house contents was bought off ebay. Seeing as I share my house with housemates there was no point in buying new stuff. When I have had enuf of the house sharing thing I'll just sell it and prob get the same money back again

I just scored a replacement set of wheels and tyres for the Festiva. Set of 4 with 90% Goodyear tread for a whole $76.. : I couldn't even get a single tyre fitted for that price

what gets me is why use sniper or other programs that ask for your password?? when all you have to do is put in the maximum price you're willing to pay?? its simple really!!!
if you're willing to spend 20g for example and its on 11k then put maximum bid.. the rest is easy peasy...
???

What!? I think you need to re-read what i typed.

If you have slow internet you may run out of time to put a 2nd maximum bid in if you are getting beat.

As my post says above, fast internet connection helps if you do what i do and bid in the dying seconds.
If your still getting beat you may have enough time to up your maximum bid (If you have a fast internet connection)

the reason you don't put your max bid early is so that the price stays as low as possible. You'll notice that the items that are rare will be won by those that wait till the last second and then put their max bid. They haven't played the "i'm the highest bidder" tit for tat game which only ups the price uneesarily. Good for the seller though.

yes good point and true.. but why only bid 5 or 10 dollars at a time when it is ending when you can blast the opposition??
you know what i mean..i have lost ebay buys like that so as you say i wait till last minutes for example then up my max bid level...

Working out how much your willing to spend and entering it as your max bid is the best way to go as long as you enter it 20sec before it ends, if you still get outbid you were never gonna get it anyway.

I've never used any program to bid for me but i guess it helps if you cant be in front of a computer to enter your max bid at the right time.

Having said all that, im not sure buying a coupe shell from ebay @ $5k sight unseen is such a good move anyway....

I hate ebay due to the fact everything on it costs more than other places.
It was good when online buying was actually beneficial.

I just won a used warren and brown torque wrench. $227inc postage. They're around $260 new I believe.

It's also good to just sit back and see a few items go off to see what the usual bidding sits around. That is if there are a few of these items up.
Also good if any items are going off late at night or early in the morning when most people forget about items going off. I've had this happen a few times to me. It's annoying.
