Default Not allowed to smile !

I had to get my forklift licence renewed to the latest photo id licence, as all of Australia Worksafe laws are coherant with each other.

Went to Teds photo shop in Ringwood and came away with a few passport photos 10 minutes later.

Took my passport photos and the application form to my local Australia post store this morning, gave the guy my drivers licence, Medicare card and credit card to prove my 100 points, everything was ok.....until i gave him my photos for my new licence.

"Sorry sir, you are not allowed to smile in the photo, it is stipulated on the application form"

And it was ! Somewhere in small print it says you cant smile in the licence photo, WTF !

This IS NOT a passport, its a bloody forklift licence, what is this country coming to ?

Anyway, had to get another passport photo done, this time with my lips closed and a scournfull look on my face, and another $14.

I am really concerened with what this country has become and becoming. :

Here is a link to the photo requirments

I got my Forklift license on the 12th of Dec and yeah I had to have a photo taken and they told me I wasn't allowed to smile. I have a jaw problem with means my mouth in the natural position is open. I'm ugly enough to begin with lol.

I got photos done at Teds at Knox ...... if they get knocked back ....... which mine did as well ...... when you take them back they will do them again for free. WHen they did them they told me to "Wipe that smile off my face" ..... nicely of course.

5. Show you with natural expression and mouth closed (ie. not smiling)
In my case that's a contradiction. So which one would I have to follow from a legal standpoint?

At work we have to renew our ASIC cards every 2 years. You are allowed to smile, but the best was when one of my workmates had his digi snap taken by security. He must've just started or finished blinking. The shot looks like he's partied hard all night : and then came staright to work for the shot. Stupid security must've have QA'd it and allowed it for process. Unfortunately he's renewed it since.

It's also the same with the NSW Public Passenger Vehicle Driver Authority.

It looked bad enough then, but they also made me take my glasses off, so I couldn't see the tiny spot on the camera I was meant to be looking it.

I look startled in the picture.

My supervisor at work a few years ago had his company photo ID which he clipped onto his belt to one side. Someone he knew from customer service was looking at his mid-section and commented "You look happy there". From his perspective it looked like she was looking at his crotch and the words used implied perhaps he was a little aroused. She went bright red once she realised what it sounded like she was suggesting, when all she was looking at was his photo on his belt.

A bit off topic. Years ago while working for the DOD we had to wear pic ID's,I was up for an ID update and took a picture of the head of my bulldog and used it for about a week before anyone noticed, and I don't even look like a bulldog..

It is no different for a NSW drivers license, passport, credit card, security pass, etc.
Accept that you cannot always smile when you get your picture taken.

I've got the standard "I'm going to kill you and your family" look on my Learners Permit photo. They didn't let us smile either.

Better than having a member of the opposite sex looking at your nether regions and saying you look depressed. :

Geez... when I had my security license done... the photo dude atr aussie post didnt give two rats about my smiling. When I got my drivers license... the bloke said to me,"C'mon mate, you've just got of your P's... LOOK HAPPY!" So i'm also smiling like a goon on my drivers license.

If you asked the guy for passport photos he should have told you, that you can't smile.

You should have gone back and got it redone, and most good places will say we will redo it if it doesn't pass.

I have taken hundreds of them and it really depends on the day who is working if it passes or not!
