Sorry can't help with your request, but please update after the event, I would like your thoughts on how it went. I am very keen to organise a trip myself, but have had mixed responses from various people who have done it.

Its good fun, but the instructor will make or break your experience, car's arent V8SC's either, they're just caged and kitted XR8's and SS's.

Default V8 Race

Hell I've done it at EC and it was great fun! In fact I did it twice cause it got rained out. It's amazing how many people they can pump through. Wish I owned the operation! Be sure to really push the car, but listen to the instructors, they will let you have your head if you seem like your not a looney with the car.

My first ride was on a semi wet track in a XR8, dude with me was pretty cool in letting me get the back out a few times. Second was in a commondore on the dry.

You copilot will sit there with a kill switch and I'm pretty sure there's a restrictor in the system somewhere cause they battled to get to 200km/h down the straight, they should have done that easy.

They are all insurance write off cars mainly. If you pay attention to the names will give you some idea about how they got them. "bushy" found burnt out in the scrub, "nemo" well you might be able to guess!

Didn't bother with the video and photos WOFTAM if you ask me, rather another 3 laps!

Speaking of which, be sure to keep them honest, got the additional laps but one of my instructors lost count and brought me in early! :evil3: Lucky my mate was on the boil and we went out and did an extra 3! :

Done 5 laps at the creek as well and it is a great rush, but if you can afford it go the extra laps. By the time you familiarise yourself with the car and track the 5 laps are up. Probably 2 years since I had been last and it was a short track. Hopefully now you get use of full track.

Might see you there. I think I'm booked in for that date as well. Must ring them and find out. I had mine originally booked in on the June long weekend. Bloody upgrades.

Mine was my 30th birthday present from my wife and some friends back in January. Can't wait to do it.

Yeah I did it a while back and got the DVD, awesome fun. V8 supercar or not you wont be dissapointed.
My brother didn't like it as much because he got a not-so-nice instructor (I still say it was because he was in a Holden!), but the guy I got was great. Awesome day, I'd love to do it again.

thanks for the feedback guys. So is it gonna be similar to my XR8, ie boss engine but just with better tyres, suspension and maybe a little lighter?! That would be handy given I know the geometry of the car and have done track days with the XR8 before...

I'll let you know how it goes!! Should get some shut eye now!! hehe

I want to do it soon myself. If you were to book now at EC how long would it be before you are there?

They won't publish lap times as they don't want to encourage dangerous driving.

I was out at EC yesterday putting Dannys_Q into a falcon for his bucks present - he loved it.

It's only the short track which i think no one else uses.So it's really hard to find out how fast you are to other cars that do the full track. But still great fun i only wish that i got the video.

There's no way you'll get anywhere enough laps in the car to get close to its potential "best lap" anyway.. unless you hired one for a full day, and of coarse you're a half decent steerer....

BACK!!! Thoughts...

Its was FUN!! though my expression on the DVD doesnt show it, I did enjoy myself!! (BTW, the camera adds 20 kilos atleast and the helmet makes sure your checks are very chubby!!) EXPENSIVE!! I got the whole deal, DVD, extra 2 laps, about $440 all up (less my sisters input).

The instructor is really good (I had a bloke named Neil) and lets you do your thing while keeping an eye on proceedings. Infact, he makes you go faster that you thought possible!! Definately a bonus! Helps out with lines and once he feels you're good enough, he just lets you have fun but I liked being told my mistakes so I could correct them.

The only time he put his arm on the wheel was to tell me I can corner closer in turn 1 (I didnt trust the grip but he knows the car better, once I realised it could hold, I just had a ball). Besides that, they allow you to overtake (stupid slow drivers even on the track!!) and pretty much let you do whatever you want.

Downside: POWER!! Its felt like my XR8 power delivery, wasnt that different.
2> they use a half track that is missing turn 4 through 9. But they create this interesting flip flop section that is fun.
3> Does it have stability control!? It felt like that a couple of times when I hit the gas to powerout and it felt like it was bogging. I didnt think traction control cause it felt more the front was braking as well?!

Besides that, it was amazing how this thing handled. I got back in my XR and it felt heavy!! Noting a few suspension changes in the future than just engine mods.

All in all, a good day. I just wish I didnt have to give the car back. I dont think I'd do it again though, I can do 3 full bike days that are the full track for similar money and much faster, so you can guess where I'd spend that money. Though I now want to do some driving school stuff...

Exactly, i did it at QLD Raceway a few months back, it felt actually pretty slow, slicks were fun change though.
Be fine if you came from driving a Barina or something

When I did it at QR, the whole time going around corners, the traction control light was flicking on and off, so I would say T/C.

Well unless it was wet or the tyres were stone cold i doubt those cars are going to break traction under excelleration.... i car i drove felt like a stock 260 and on calder i felt like i would have been quicker in my own XR8...
The slicks provide far more grip (when warm) that those cars will ever be able to over power....

Not under acceleration, but most certainly around corners where without it, a power slide would have been totally possible.
