I am selling my 72 Mark IV Lincoln and was wondering your opinions on the best car selling web sites.
I am a little wary of ebay (and I can't access it from work). CarPoint seems OK but I am not sure how many people view it. Likewise Trading Post Online. Last time I sold a car like this it was the old newspaper style Trading Post! I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. |

The Trading Post is online nowadays as well. I think if its a pre paid ad it goes in the paper and on the site. Best of both worlds.
E-Bay would probably be the place you would get most interest but not necessarily buyers. Try carsales.com.au it seems pretty good and is tied in with carpoint as well. I recently bought a car off there.

Carsales is the best IMO.
But for that kind of car, try uniquecarsales.com.au Same thing I know, but different people would look at it.

If you can find an Aussie/American site then that would be worth a shot too.

I sold my last car within two weeks of advertising on carsales. Back then it only cost be about 25 dollars for the Ad. Also, the Ad stays on until your car is sold.

I sold a car recently on carsales. I had a hell of a lot of calls and emails - a few tyre kickers and time wasters but in the end I had 3 people who were keen and it went to the first guy with the cash in hand.
Forums also if you can find a relevant forum for your type of car you're selling.

As a marketing student, your selling a unique and specialised car. Where would people that are into this sort of car look? That's what you have to ask yourself!
Think about it, If i was looking for a Lincoln what sites would I be looking at? Not being into Lincoln's or knowing what that sort of market is into Lincolns', my advice would be put yourself in the buyer's shoes. Just think if I wanted a Lincoln where would i look for one? As havin no experience in this type of car i think something specialised like unique cars or australian muscle cars.com might be the way to go. A person selling a modified car can watse their time on carsales, tradingpost etc when really you just have to think about who would buy my car and what sort of websites would they look on for it, the mainstream websites are good for selling mainstream cars not highly specialised/moidified cars which is what most of us are into!
