While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

i run a 11.6 @ 126 in my turbo el and will easily go faster

could possibly be the fastest street driven manual 6 cylinder e-series.

its also still using stock bottom end and no suspension mods to suit the 1/4

That Red Ute from Dynomite Performance in Melbourne ran a best 10.22 about a year ago at Heathcote.

Phil Watson, quickest manual F6/XR6T: 11.13 @ 127mph

Daniel Otway, quickest manual modular: 10.98 @ 130mph

Both records set at the Motorplex yesterday under the watchful eye of our tuner, Simon from XFT.

Yeh the 10.4 @132mph was stock BA motor, but had a t51r hanging off it, and a c4 auto, the best i got with the stock 4 speed auto was 10.95 @124.6 mph, stock diff, stock auto but had a 2500 rpm stall, and stock internals of motor, pump fuel,as it drove to the track (600 klm round trip, MT's street radials) Don't know if this is a record still, but i am more proud of this time then my latest time with the mods, even though the motor is still stock.

Would have thought an APS Phase III Typhoon ZF would have gone quicker.

I think tune/injectors only he pumped out a very impressive 12.4!

Final run on the night they managed a 11.8 @ 122mph

The car is quicker its all about practice and getting the shifts perfect.

Il let Paul and Wade explain as they were the drivers

i agree corzza pauls car has great potential to go quicker as you said getting the shifts down to perfection is the key did you see my last run of the night a 12.4 @ 113mph i had to change third gear at only 3000rpm due to boost cut problem it does take practice

From stock XR6T to what you at now with 12.4 is saying something.

Great stuff mate. Seems like that short shift did the trick to get a new PB.

Perhaps with a set of MT's and a bit of boost of the line should see you in the 11's with the power the car is making.

Hey Daniel, next time out I'll make sure I get a mid to low 11. Just warming up.

Car's making 370 at the rears which is good for a low 11 @ 125mph.

My last run felt great...Wade said it looked good, must of been a 10 but the bloody WSID time recording went down!!!

Awesome time, but even assuming around 3400lbs car weight (with driver) I would have thought you would need closer to 400rwkw to run that ET. Even the mph is very (too) high for 307rwkw.

Pessimistic dyno?

Still, killer time for an uncaged street car, well done.
