Default Brocky Memorial at Sandown. Who's going?

Hi all

Whoosha and I are heading to Sandown tomorrow for Brocky's memorial. We were wondering who else is going and maybe catch up with fellow members while we're there.

Starts at 2pm. Gates open at 12pm.

Krissy

I am thinking there could be a small crowd. He really was, in the later years ,no one to look at with admiration.

Absolutely everyone I have talked to, including friends young and old think he isnt really a loss in the way someone like Steve Irwin was.

I wouldnt bother going myself...

I'm also thinking, with a post count of only 3 we won't have to put up with your nonsense for very long.

Fair enough. You've got your opinion on the guy and that's cool but it might be better suited elsewhere because this particular thread is about possibly meeting up with some fellow forum members - finding out who's going to the memorial. Simple really _

So I'll just go ahead and assume that you won't be there and we won't be seeing you...

Anyhoo, so far it's myself, Whoosha and I think CAMS290 aswell. Anyone else?

MORE than 10,000 people gathered today at Melbourne's Sandown Raceway for a public tribute to motor racing legend Peter Brock.

Brock, who won nine Sandown Endurance titles, was killed during a rally in Western Australia two weeks ago.

Following the state funeral for the touring car legend earlier this week, today's gathering, which began at 2pm (AEST), was a public tribute to Australia's most popular race driver.

Race rivals and teammates, including Ford driver Allan Moffat and John Harvey, were to speak during the tribute, along with five-times Australian V8 supercar champion Mark Skaife.

The day will also feature several of Brock's race cars and will be highlighted by son James doing a lap of honour in a replica of Brock's early Austin A30 race car.

sounds like a good crowd turned up, it would have been good to see the historic cars there circulating too.

Lots of people went which was good.

Many people who know nothing about cars or motorsport would have gone for the legend, not for the man.

Peter Brock to us as the family man will be forgotten. But the legend will always live on.

Glad to hear it all went well. And the new trophy being made for the winner of Panorama is fitting to Brock's memory and his dominance on the track spanning 3 decades.

I agree with you there. It was a send off that he deserved and it was beautifully done. I was ok until Moffat stood up. His moving tribute to Brocky bought me to tears. There was no Ford / Holden rivalry today. Today, everyone came together to honour one of Australia's legends. It was a nice memorial and I'm glad I was there and a part of it. Won't ever forget it.

Moffy was in tears too....

Dont forget they were team mates together at one stage, racing in Europe etc.... And they had great respect for eachother when racing as rivals, never swapping paint. It was good clean racing.

maybe people think its cool to say silly stuff because this is a Ford forum, and he mainly was racing in a Holden ?

Its not the case, PB was an Aussie legend and most Ford or Holden fans respect that.

If i lived down that way i woulda gone along to pay my respects as a racing fan.

Nice pics Unruly !

I would have loved to have gone but couldn't make it, looks like a fitting tribute to the great man, seeing Moffet in tears on the news really showed how much respect there was between them evan with there strong rivalry on the track.
