Default Back in a fez

I spent 4 weeks in my 3dr LX Auto Demo and loved it, it was great little car with plenty to go. i recently sold it to a very lucky fella and have spent about 2weeks in various cars. a Focus CL, which is fine but feels a little sloppy compared to the fez, the RTV always fun (toughest ute on the road) and an AUII XR6 wich suprised me with the amount of power it had and the smooth drive and tranny. Anyway today i went and collected my new demo, a 5dr LX Manual. which is great, not keen on the colour, Tonic is a bit girly, but it should be great fun to drive. I did notice that the chassis feels different to the 3dr, or am i just imagining it.

ok.... lets not start flaming too much, but would you like to care to explain that??

a 3dr car has only 2 holes in the chassis, a 5dr has 4.

in every case of a 5 door car being modified to become 3 door, torsional rigidity has increased

Perhaps the B pillar is acting as a cross member. It does seem to defy logic though.

why need a b-pillar as a reinforcement, if the 3dr has the whole rear half as a crossmember

The 3 door will usually have the stiffer chassis Mitch.

and a damn sight unlucky to have a part quote be wrong.

just for sh1ts and giggles, if a 5dr chassis was stiffer than a 3dr, then wouldnt you assume most of the hardcore sports cars of today would have 5 doors?

Im just going off what ive read on ukfiestanetwork :-o ... i honestly remember hearing that 5 door was alot stiffer because of B pillar.

Ive never driven a 5 door before. So i wouldnt know first hand. just going off what id been told and with Nappa saying the chassis ''feels different'' i thought he was suggesting the 5 door might feel stiffer or something.

Sorry

there is no way a 5 door is stiffer than a 3. Example, a monaro is stiffer than a normal commy. (not the best cars to use as an example but ya get what I am talking about.)
