Last day for me today for holiday break, started at 6.00AM and got told to go home at 9.00AM with 12 hours pay.
This really made feel good today, as most other years I usually get screwed over with last minute jobs for the day.. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to all of you, stay safe. Cheers. |

Met Trevor Marmalade in my apartment lift. A very humble guy, and a lot shorter than appears on TV
Made me jump onto YT to revisit some his footy show jokes. Gawd there were some crackers. Miss those times.

I work five overnight shifts a week, although for the six weeks leading up to Christmas, we also work Friday nights. Our Christmas Day will be pretty quiet but we'll do the family catch-ups next Saturday instead. My wife also works five overnight shifts a week at Coles Express. She's also rostered on to work from 11:00pm on New Year's Eve. I'm secretly happy about this situation as: a) I hate going out on NYE and dealing with drunks. and b) I'll have a night's sleep where I might actually get some doona without having to fight for it. Merry Christmas to everyone on AFF irrespective of whether I've agreed with your points of view or not. Peace and goodwill.

The lovely cool temperature today.......................and having the Christmas mowing run behind me. Everyone want's their lawns freshly done before Christmas, which means squeezing everyone in. Thankfully, it wasn't a typically 30+ summers day, nor did it rain. I'm still buggered, but not like I would be if it had been hot and humid.

Supposed to be 35 and 40 for Christmas day and Boxing day respectively, making the most of the cool temps while they last.

It scrubbed up OK, can’t be too unhappy - especially the azalea hedge trim with just sécateurs and eyes. Face somehow got cooked.

Just glad to see them around tbh. Been a bit scarce around here the last few years.

I was trawling through the Marketplace classifieds looking for the "next big thing" to flip and found this pic in a commodore advert.
Made me laugh and relate all at the same time. This is what a kitchen is for lads: To good! Cheers, One Sleepless Mad Man

Kitchen ?? That's what the lounge room is for. Atleast that's what one of our one time house sharers did, stripping down his motorbike engines after each Amaroo outing.

Nope, the kitchen / motorbike combo gets another vote courtesy of a tenant from many years ago. Wasnt really a surprise visit but we were surprised anyway when we saw he was dismantling some dirty 250 piece of crap in front of the sink.

…It’s about 350 days before we suffer cheesy carols and Christmas Muzak again. My “Jingle Bell Rock” earworm has only been successfully displaced this afternoon and evening by a migraine.

It has been another long Xmas day with the family, plenty of drink & food along with much love banter, I now feel like a stuffed pig.
Goodnight to all, as I attempt to sleep this off, and fast for the next day or two. |

Took the car down for a car wash.. and got to play red light racing with a
and man, he smoked me the 1st time, the second and 3rd times I smoked him... not by much I will admit, like half a car length to 65kmph. Maybe that's the advantage of instant boost (Supercharged) vs Turb. I asked him what's it got mate? He said 1.6 turb.. Man, Kia has REALLY got their act together when it comes to things that surprise, performance wise. (to me anyway) IE: Stinger, Cerato GT.. Yeah yeah I know, I'm driving 2007 tech Vs 2023 - 24 tech. Looks like my next text drive will be a Cerato GT. Can't wait, be interesting to see how it goes around corners, as my taxi is excellent for a big front drive jobbie through the twistie stuff. Cheers, One smiling Mad Man

Summoned up the courage to try a very small (and sharp) cold chisel on the outer metal band of some old valve stem seals. It worked really well! Chisel 80% of the way down the side and there’s enough release of tension to extract with seal pliers. A definite time-saver, will file this trick away for other difficult engines.

Been, reading, thinking. Then I stumbled across this article on the TRD Aurion:
https://www.whichcar.com.au/features...history-lesson And... after reading the initial paragraphs I came across this fun fact: "Developed and built in Australia – blah blah blah then this: Interestingly, this is the same engine still in service, supercharged, in the back of the Lotus Evora." Hmm, maybe there's hope for me being able to get 'that tune' done after all. So I did a search for Lotus Evora tuning and came across this website: https://www.quantumtuning.com.au/aus...f-removal.aspx Here's what they are offering in the Lotus setup tune wise: Pretty decent gains, which is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Have sent them an email to see if they can help me out here. Fingers crossed... Where there's a will, there's a way. And I have BOTH! Cheers, One Mad Man
