And, as a few have already said, Mike Oldfield's work.

Also loved the instumental version of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game"

Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick.

Aparently Bonham's hands were bleeding most times he played it.

Yeah, the version of that on the sultans of swing compilation is awesome.

Good to see a coupla people going for tubular bells, haven't heard that since I was a kid. My vote would have to go to hocus pocus a song by a 1970's dutch rock group called focus, It kinda has some vocals, but it's yodelling so I reckon it still counts as instrumental, really wild flute solo in there as well. In terms of modern stuff, POD have done some good short instrumental bits.

The guitar solo from the movie "The Crow" (which appears in the rare movie score soundtrack CD, different from the score CD which contains the songs from bands in the movie).

the guitar at the start of Dire Straits "I want my MTV"....love it.

And Metallica's older stuff has some good guitar instrumentals....

Also the guitar in Guns n Roses "Sweet child of mine" is pretty good.

The late great Stevie Ray Vaughn, get yourself a copy of his album "Couldn't stand the Weather". Not pure intrumental, but not a lot of singing either.

I Think the track everyone would recognise is Scuttlebuttin'.

The other is "Cavatina" by John Williams, everyone recognises this as the theme to the movie "The Deer Hunter"

Steve Vai - For the love of god.

If you can find it the guitar dual from the movie "Crossroads". No not the Britany Spears movie. The one with steve vai in it.

I know its not an instrumental but half of the song is:
Dream Theatre - Glass Prison.

Crossroads is a great movie for guitarists and blues fans. The guitar dual at the end where he plays for his soul is Steve Vai on his own parts, and a mixure of Ry Cooder on slide, and Arlen Roth and Bill Kanengiser doing the classical bit at the end.

Another couple of great instrumentals would be a few by Jeff Healey (the blind guy out of Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze), one is Hideaway, the other is See The Light

Hi Crusher.

Yes my avatar is Dreamtheater's 'Train of Thought' album cover.

Wish Dreamtheater had enough fans for them to justify coming all this way. What i would do to see them live.

Oh another song from them (not an instrumental but half of it is) that i love and i love to play is 'Goodnight Kiss'.
