Ford’s product onslaught sees EcoBoost roll out across 80% of passenger car range by end of 2015
EcoBoost technology a cornerstone of Ford’s product onslaught in 2015 with Mondeo, Ford Kuga and Mustang already confirmed with EcoBoost technology EcoBoost gives customers the performance they want with the fuel efficiency they desire and is core to Ford’s commitment to improve fuel efficiency Multi-award-winning EcoBoost technology won International Engine of the Year for an unprecedented three-years in a row with the high-tech 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine MELBOURNE, 2 Oct, 2014 – As technology and innovation continues to achieve more from less, Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology goes further to offer customers more refined and accessible power and torque from smaller and more fuel efficient engines. As part of Ford’s product onslaught, Ford will introduce three new EcoBoost engines to new or refreshed models by mid-2015 to offer customers more power and economy with EcoBoost technology. Already confirmed on the 2015 Ford Kuga, the new 110 kW, 134 kW and 176 kW EcoBoost engines will feature in a range of models next year. “Ford EcoBoost delivers outstanding performance and great economy, a recipe that is proving incredibly popular with our customers,” said Ford Australia Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service, Graeme Whickman. EcoBoost technology combines smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to offer customers outstanding performance and fuel economy. “EcoBoost technology is at the cutting edge of engine downsizing and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost winning International Engine of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 is a clear proof point of that,” In 2014, Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine beat Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre TSI twincharger and the Mercedes-AMG 2.0-litre turbo, among other engines, to take out overall International Engine of the Year. “What EcoBoost means for customers is the latest technology offering better performance and better fuel economy.” Ford EcoBoost engines deliver up to 20 per cent better fuel economy than larger-displacement petrol engines. EcoBoost technology is currently available on seven nameplates in Australia, and will be offered on nearly 80 per cent of the company’s passenger vehicle nameplates by the end of 2015. Ford’s current EcoBoost line-up: Ford Fiesta Sport: 92 kW 1.0-litre EcoBoost Ford Fiesta ST: 134kW 1.6-litre EcoBoost Ford EcoSport Trend & Titanium: 92kW 1.0-litre EcoBoost Ford Focus ST: 184kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost Ford Kuga Ambiente: 110kW and 134 kW 1.5-litre EcoBoost (from January 2015) Ford Kuga Trend & Titanium: 176 kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost (from January 2015) Ford Mondeo Zetec & Titanium: 149 kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost Ford Falcon: 179 kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost International Engine of the Year: http://youtu.be/xLcT3QILrkY?list=UUq...Eg1vPCOHylqrlQ

I'd kinda like to see the 3.5 Ecoboost V6 out of the SHO here, it's one cracker of a engine.

NZ has the 176kW Ecoboost (and has since end of 2013) in the Titanium Mondeo, why doesn't Aus ?

Considering the MY15 Kuga is getting the higher output 2.0 EcoBoost hopefully the MY15 Mondeo will also get it when it arrives.
I think the new Mondeo lineup will be the same as the MY15 Kuga in terms of trim levels and engines.

I predict there will be a 2.7L EcoBoost Fusion/Mondeo with AWD.

If 'nearly 80%' of Ford models will get Ecoboost by 2015, then it sounds like the Ranger will get it.

Once the Falcon is gone I would consider a Mondeo with a larger Ecoboost. The XR5 Turbo seemed like a great package (not having driven one)

The 2.7 in the Ranger would be great fun. Even detuned down to ~200kW/450NM it would be a cracker.

Not sure what other reason it would be that way, either. Craig H

I've just bought a 2012 Ecoboost Mondeo after getting rid of my FG XR6 (good riddance). It's a very good engine and the economy is outstanding.I was using at least 2 tanks a week in the XR6 and I have been on the same tank for 2 weeks in the Mondeo.
The Falcon seems like a dinosaur in comparison and I don't miss it one bit.

Let me guess, it was a Mondeo LX with the old gutless 2.3 N/A four.

Have these engines got any exceptions for younger drivers? I was on my L's and P's last century so I'm a little sketchy on current rules but would a P plater be banned from driving an Ecoboost?
Are they using power to weight now or are these in the same category as turbo diesels?

My missus used to drive an SB Barina with the Opel 1.4 ltr petrol I think it was.....That was one tough little car and the Opel always went strong and never felt like giving up.
That Opel engine was German built i believe and even at 200,000k's it still went well at 110kph! |

Was that the Swing? Mum had the same car but I recall it was very under powered (44kw?) but kept the car going quite well.
Funny how I remember silly things like they were speed limited to 156 km/h and had a module in the engine bay that you needed to flip depending on if you ran it on 91 or 95 octane.
