Default Door lock barrel has been hit in, now how do I fix it? (EF Futura)

Trying to work out how to fix my driver's side lock barrel in my EF Futura. Some shmuck bashed it in with a screwdriver last night and stole a few things out of my car. I tried removing the door trim but there's a plastic covering preventing me from getting any real force on the barrel. There's also a lot of wiring etc connected to the trim, so I don't feel confident in taking it off completely.

I'm not sure if I'll need a new barrel or not, but had a similar thing happen to my old EA and the barrel was able to be put back in place. Of course it cenrtainly seemed a hell of a lot easier as there was no covering or wiring (it was only a GL). Getting the barrel hit in seems to be a common thing with falcons, so I was hoping that someone who has had it happened to them knows exactly how to fix it...

Cheers Guys,
Michael

ok... normally the plastic on the inside of the door handle breaks and the barrel remains intact.. a lot of araldite may work depending on how bad it is... if you do it you need to go the high strength stuff not the 5-minute, and dont try any other glue because it will be no where near strong enough... if worse comes to worse you may need a new door handle assembly..

cheers,

santo

Thanks for that Santo. Sounds like I might just have to leave it to my mechanic, which is a pain considering I work weekdays...

This happens ALL THE TIME to AUs and BAs. You would have to remove the door handle from the door to check out how bad the damage is. Often the door lock is badly damaged by this sort of intrusion, and also the door handle itself, as that is what the lock is mounted to. If you can get the door trim off and get some spanners into the door itself to undo the 2 bolts that hold the handle on, it's easy to change the door barrel if need be.
