I have been there. It was depressing. My old HR Premier. This was years ago and it was like a nightmare. The car had been trashed. Barely recognisable! Advertised for sale in the classifieds. I recognised the registration, rang up and went to see it. I sold it in mint condition at a mere 35,000 miles many years prior! It had been severely abused by its current owner. Bodywork and interior an utter disgrace. Told the guy I used to own it many years before in its former glory. He was unmoved. I drove away from it thoroughly dejected!

I'll never forget the day that I walked into that little car yard and spotted my baby.
It had been the best part of a decade, but I knew it was her in an instant. The shiny orange paint, the immaculate black trim, that 70's smell. She was a real fuel burner, carbi induction you could tune your self, none of this modern efi rubbish. I ran my hand down her rear quarters, stopping only to take in those irresistible curves. I reached her rear and couldn't help but give her chrome bumper a rub. Her tyres were a little worn, but those factory wheel trims were as clean as the day she was sold new. Sheepishly I asked the salesman for the keys, I didn't want to reveal the burning desire growing within me to once again own this iconic beast. With a stirring of the starter motor and a pump of the throttle she came to life. The sound was unmistakeable, the smell of burning oil undeniable. I had to walk away that day, despite a yearning I have never felt for any other car. |

I'd love to be reunited with my XA GT Sedan which some lowlife stole on 5th June 1986.
White, manual, parchment interior with zero options! Nice fat T/A's on chrome 12 slotters. Looked the biz, sounded tuff and went very well. Hopefully the lowlife who took it has lived a pitiful life full of pain and disease!!

My old Laser was on its last legs when I sold it, so the chances of it still being in one piece is probably slim to none. I'd still love to have it back, though, it was my first car after all, and I had paid $30 (a fortune for a teenager) for a shiny new Ghia badge to go on the bootlid.
I'd have a better chance of being reunited with my old EA, though. It was sold to a family friend, with whom I have lost contact recently. I'd love to see it again.

Worst thing you could ever do.
We sold my wifes old EL Fairmont that I had done a lot of work too and very much loved. Times changed and we moved it on when she got another vehicle before I had the chance to turbo it etc. A couple of years later it come up for sale in the classifieds here and after a couple of weeks the price was very much right. Went and picked it up at midnight , sight unseen. Was absolutely stoked that baby had come back home. Went out in the morning to head up the shops in the old girl and saw it in daylight....................to say I was crushed is an understatement. The car was totally rooted. Looked at doing a rebuild but it was just way too far gone to be a viable thing. Ended up stripping the good gear off it and selling it back off again after owning it for a week. |

Few cars i would love to reunited with (owned way to many over time) but top 2 would be my VJ Valiant Charger sold it just before my daughter was born as you cant put a baby seat in the back...
The other would be my old VK Calais 355 stroker... As fuel thirsty as she was i should never had sold it :(

Miss the hell out of this car. That day pulled 188rwhp with the LPG mixer ring stuck in the intake. Nearly had it charged with the ol' Powerdyne as below... but couldn't afford tuning. Last I saw all the paint issues were fixed, windows got tinted and towbar fitted. This was around 2006 at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast.

This thread is why I'm not particularly interested in selling my sprint.... Though if someone were to offer me a LOT of money I might be interested.....
However, I'm still kicking myself for not buying an XE I considered at the time I bought the sprint.....

I'd love to be reunited with my old 1980 Mk2 Escort coupe...2 litre auto with a RS2000 dash and steering wheel, Sunroof, Sony XPlode stereo. Man that was a brilliant car and I wish I could get it back. Still don't know why I sold it :(

Would you want to be reunited with one of your previous cars?
No. I'm only interested in what's in shed now and what's coming next. |
