Default MOMO Steering Wheel and Gear Knob Colour Combinations (Interior and Exterior)

Hey fellow AUvians,

I'm trying to find out if Tickford only offered certain MOMO wheel/gear knob combinations on certain colours, or if it was open slather as to what you could option (on AU 1/2/3 XR6 and 8) Also, irrespective of what Tickford optioned are there combinations that were shunned/frowned upon?

I found a thread on FF (via Google) but I couldn't thread mine it so I've started this fresh one. In the old thread b2tf stated that:

From what I remember the different colour combinations were:

Manual knobs:

* All black
* Black/Blue
* Black/Grey

Auto knobs:

* All black
* Black/Blue
* Black/Red

Steering Wheels:

* Black/Blue
* Black/Red
* Black/Grey
* Black/Woodgrain
* Black/'Wild Blue' - T series only
No mention on whether certain Momo colours were tied to certain exterior colours. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have a silver AU2 XR8 and I'm trying to decide whether to go metallic blue or red.

From what I've seen over the years (on manual models):

Black - red steering wheel and red gear knob
Narooma Blue - blue steering wheel and blue gear knob
Liquid Silver - blue steering wheel and blue gear knob
White - red steering wheel and red gear knob
Blueprint - blue steering wheel and blue gear knob
Meteorite Grey - blue steering wheel and blue gear knob
Green - red steering wheel and red gear knob
Venom Red - red/blue steering wheel and red/blue gear knob

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Silhouette T2 with red inserts & coulson headrests, 2 Blueprint T3's - one with blue inserts & the other plain black if that helps.

I was under the impression that the red Wheels were series one xr8 and blue was for s2 and s3 xr8 only. I've seen loads of cars and that's the only pattern I have seen.

XR combo's were set by model series , only variants were what ever the dealer swapped

Thanks for your responses guys...it's starting to seem like red steering wheels were restricted to series 1 XRs (and the T3s?) but this again raises the question of which interior bits with which ducos. Unless as stated, the combos were whatever the dealers felt like/customers requested.

I think a red wheel will go quite nicely in my liquid silver XR8...but how 'wrong' will this be?

It had to do with the interior colour and series.

AU 1's had red wheels across the board
AU 2 & 3 XR's had metallic blue/black
AU 2 & 3 Fairmont, fairmont ghia, fairmont ghia had black/woodgrain as an option
AU 2 Fairmont ghia 75th and Fairlane Sportsman had black/woodgrain as standard
AU 1 & 2 LTD had white/woodgrain as standard

AU 1 T's had black/grey with the charcoal interior.

AU 2 & 3 T's had:
Black/grey with charcoal interior
Black/red with charcoal and red inserts
Black/wild blue with charcoal and blue inserts.

It won't be 'wrong' but I wish you the very best of luck finding one. Red MOMO gear is by far the hardest colour to find and for some reason it's also the one that fades/damages the easiest.

The factory fitted ones were in set combinations but dealers could order the parts individually and fit whatever they liked.

Thanks big mik, I've been working the Google search pretty hard today and all the pics I've found tie in with what you've listed.
