Lying mechanic

Put an xg ute through rw last December, ended up costing me $250 (everything done, passed). Took it back in may, a whole new list of things to be done! $350 & I had to question them on just about everything.. It was two different mechanics that did the rw tests (the second mechanic had been on holiday in December & hadn't known it had gone through before) Had mixed dealings with this mechanic before, some good, some not so good. Think I might try a different mechanic from now on.

It really amuses me, all the posts that are defending the lying mechanic...
He got caught out, that's a fact. (See original post).
I guess if you want to defend him go ahead, but I'm not sure what your motivation is? Are some of you taking the bar exam soon and want to practice defending guilty clients?
Or have I just been living under a rock and didn't realize that lying to customers has become acceptable nowadays?

Strange....I have a Holden red that I rebuilt 8 years ago.....Still waiting for the oil weep you have described.

That oil weep is also a 10 minute fix....Called a new gasket and gasket sealant....

Not defending....It's called being in the trade and knowing how a simple job can turn sour real quick....Turing sour means more time to fix it properly, which then puts you behind the 8 ball for the rest of the day...

So it's fairly plain you aren't in the trade and have no idea how things turn sour

This thread is the biggest load of bs. What exactly has the mechanic lied about? He said it was a bad day he hasn't got your car done. So what, too bad. Wonder how he would feel if you called him a straight out liar to his face. People that make up unsubstantiated crap are the liars. Your evidence is sketchy at best- eavesdropping on a phone call from another customer, where you then see the Landrover out the front. Means he's not working on it and he's a liar. hhhmmm ok. Really has nothing to do with me but why make a thread about unsubstantiated stories. I could understand if you only had a leaking waterpump and the mechanic said you a crack in the block and an engine rebuild was the only fix, but seriously your car wasn't ready and now he's a liar.
