Not a roadster, and not imagination, but my reality is this is a stonking engine in my XR6 turbo. To add to the equation, the standard XR6's 245 tyres don't allow the engine to reach anywhere near its full potential. |

Story goes they built a batch of DI and non DI I6's a year or 2 ago to test them for future Euro 5 compliance, and they all passed quite easily. Thats about all I know. I'd assume they would have had to choose between them which ones they wanted to develop further, but based on cost you'd have to assume it would have been the non DI versions, which may or may not be fitted in 2014, but probably not certified and tested for Euro 5, might just be cheaper to keep them Euro 4 as there is no need for Euro 5 compliance now.
Can't give you much else. |

It always could, it was just a case of spending the money to get it there. Something Ford wasn't prepared to do apparently.

They should have brought back a smaller Falcon a few years back and called it the Cortina. Imagine that, a direct injected Turbo I6 Cortina. Back to reality........ :(

I would think the business decision would be to complete any legal obligations to spare parts stock and then to the scrappies. A sad end to a stand out wholly Australian engine.

What they should have done is spawned another vehicle from the Territory platform.

I doubt, but hope, that since ford know of their demise, they will just go all out with the i6 and retire it with a bang. Would be nice to see factory 210-220kw NA 6s, 300kw XR6ts and 370kw f6's.
A 400kw GT-P would be really nice too

My Idea sell the I6 line to Tata to put into their latest F type
E type reborn problem solved Geelong city council buy the plant and keep making the I6 (and other bits) I6 turbo as eco lpi; the new world plant engine; tune to run on methane/natural gas you could run it off any intensive animal farm to power generators etc electricity to local communities in places where power is hard to get research other fuels that the engine could run on Vic govt reclaim Geelong plant as a part of the TAFE system to keep the skills up ( as repayment of investment made to ford by the state) and do all of the above as long as you could cover costs of education any profit from sales could go back into the TAFE system Vic Govt reclaim broadmeddows as well and go into making "yellow Cabs" for the world |

Also, the I6 cylinder heads are cast in Mexico so the moulds are not physically in Ford's hands to sell/give them away, even if they wanted to.

I suppose the deal selling any tooling back to X series days to Rare Spares a few months back starts to make sense.
