Default can you pay $30k for a 2007 hyundai? you cant can you?

A neighbour of mine just bought a 2007 model hyundai santa fe. Low km and nice condition but he paid $30k for it? I thought he was joking but he was serious, said he got it for a bargain too as its the diesel model

Surely he is overstating the price?

list bad buys that people you know that have made. Compile a list. My neighbour probably made the worst buy in the country. Do you know someone that comes close?

1. 2007 hyundai santa fe $30k

A quick look at carsales shows he got ripped...but still, we all make mistakes. Quite a good one though.

I don't believe this at all - someone is telling porkies. You can get a 2007 Santa Fe for between $20k and $32k, but the Tucson is around the $22k mark max and the Tucson does not come in diesel.

In that case, then yes, for a low km example, in diesel, that price is on par, believe it or not. And they are a good 4WD for the price - certainly punch well above their "brand".

A guy at work just bought a BA XR6 from motorfinancewizard and it cost him 20k.

Only ones who would give him a loan. A few guys at work got a good laugh out of the price.

I once stopped in at motor finance wizard and couldnt beleive my eyes. I wasnt even lookong for a car bit heard about their rort.

They were asking $18990 for a 97 el fairmont ghia, with 160000km. This was only about 2 years back. I told the saleman i bought a el fairmont ghia 5 years earlier and paid $7000 for it with under 100000km. He said if i was a cash buyer he would knock heaps off it. I told him he would have to knock about $16k off the price for me to even look at it.

I couldnt beleive it. Who could be that desperate to buy from them?

Its because they are interest free loans with no deposit.

Paying $20k for a BA XR6 isnt any worse than paying $14k for one from a dealer on a five year loan at 15%, which I imagine alot of people do.

Do some figures on some impulse buyers who go and finance their car over 5 years at 10+% interest or chuck the full sum of a new car on a 20 year mortgage... Now thats throwing money down the shitta

Have you driven a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe diesel? I've driven a 2010 model with the diesel. Bit of a truck, but heaps of power and torque (145kW / 421Nm) and a smooth 6 speed auto. I think Hyundai didn't upgrade to the R series 2.2L diesel until 2010 though. The older 2.2 diesel had slightly underwhelming figures of 114kW / 343Nm (although the torque is still on par with the 3L Hilux diesel).

Remember, people actually payed around $45k for a NA XR6 at one stage. Now with a bit of haggling, you can get them for about $32k drive away.

Yeh Hulk, tell us about your supercharger.

That would have to rival your neighbours waste of money on his new pride and joy?

Your poor neighbour. I trust his fence is high, and for his sake, your legs are short.

The most judgemental person I have ever come across, you constantly, unrelentingly post material based on nothing more than your own disagreement about someone elses expenditure or choice of purchase

Get some worthwhile material to thread start, get some respect from the other users. Now there's a thought.

I know of someone who bought a Yellow BA XR.... oh wait.

Sorry but i agree with the post above, and this thread is pointless, questioning someones purchase is stupid, they chose to buy it and sometimes buying a car is a choice made by the heart not the head.
I mean why would you need 3 cars?
