has anyone here just taken the airbox off and wacked a pod on? if so what was the results. im thinkin power loss due to heat.
Also my second question is has anyone replaced that rubber pipe from the manifold to the afm. does it sound any better or make a difference and what did you do with the sensor? |

Pod filters are illegal and there would be a small gain in power. Sure it would be warm air, but you have minimal restrictions compared to an airbox.

Just chuck a K&N panel filter in the standard intake or go a g&d setup their seems to be good results with that induction.

Pods are illegal if they are exposed
I am running a pod in my standard airbox in my i6 Not much difference between a regular k&n panel, just a bit more induction roar. But, without an airbox i suppose there would be a bit more air to get in there, be a bit warmer, which would affect power, either way gain or loss would be minimal

I did in my 5l. Definitely goes worse as I expected, but makes some noise which is all I wanted!
When moving it's fine, but in heavy traffic you can definitely feel the power loss.

I had a dyno done with no air box, factory air box, and Pod, and there was only 1rwkw difference between all 3 (AU2 V8 auto).
If you want a legal Pod, fit the BA XR8 one.

Me and a few mates just wanted to see how much it would pick up. With a factory filter i think it was just under 100kw, airbox without filter was about 101-102kw and we then took the air box out and picked up another 2-3kw. The final figure was 105rwkw.
